Lyrics The Poison is the debut full-length studio album released by Welsh metalcore quartet Bullet for My Valentine. It was released on 3rd October, 2005 through Visible Noise Records in the UK, and on 14th February, 2006 in the US through Trustkill Records. The album included 11 new songs and two old ones. "Cries in Vain" was originally taken from their self-titled five track UK EP and the US six track EP Hand of Blood. "4 Words (To Choke Upon)" was originally taken from the EP Hand of Blood. As of August 4, 2007, the album has sold 336,000 copies in the US and certified gold. The Poison has also been certified gold in the United Kingdom for sales of over 100,000.

I admit, I'm not a fan anymore but this album tugs at my memories pretty hard. I miss being twelve and stupid. Otherwise, it has a few good ones - Room 409 has always been my favorite though.

I may look at this album as a piece of crap nowadays (and even saying that I can acknowledge this is far from the worst thing I've ever heard) but back when I first started listening to bands like As I Lay Dying and Killswitch Engaged I thought this album was the shit. Plus it's one of those really obvious albums that a certain edgy teenager getting over a breakup might take to.

I think I only really invested time in discovering about a handful of bands (Amon Amarth, Cradle of Filth, Disturbed, Insomnium, Lamb of God, Slipknot plus BFMV and KSE as previously mentioned) so I had no idea I could branch out and find more interesting music until I discovered Metal-Archives and then later Metal Storm.

Written by Troy Killjoy on 27.01.2014 at 10:25 Yeah, I find myself judging BFMV pretty harsh these days because of their latest albums and just because they seem so cookie-cutterish with the lyrics and "screamo" growling style. However, this album and Scream Aim Fire are not as atrocious as I like to think they are. Same thing happened to me with AILD to be honest - I used to think they were the best metal band in the world...yeah, the delusion was pretty high there.

Written by ppippissi on 27.01.2014 at 20:54 AILD are still pretty cool to me  .Though I like their second and third albums way better than their later stuffs. I basically got into melodic metalcore via Shadows Are Security and that was actually long after I delved into more "kvlt" metal than AILD.

I was cleaning my music library last night and while I was listening, I concluded that while I do like their music, Lambesis' style of growling really kills it for me, which I kind of find ironic ifyouknowhatimean. Their older albums, I think, are definitely better - while they didn't necessarily "mellow out," something about their newer ones (especially Awakened) just sounds too pop-ish for me (gosh, I sound like a hipster, I'm sorry).
