So there I was listening to this, being blown away by the awesomeness and all of a sudden they went all Black Metal on me in the song Absent .... the second half of the song is unbelievably moving as is the whole album

Did you listen to the two disks mixed together? Or each one individually?

The album can also be listened to with each disc synchronized and playing at the same time

They were "accused" of stealing the idea from Neurosis. Who gives a fuck, if it works, it works!

Agreed and agreed. I instantly thought of Neurosis, but this is something really creative, if they can do it then let it be.

This album is fucking unreal. Thanks for reminding me to check this baby out. The synchronization really makes the difference here.

It seems to me that I love all of Rosetta's discography, although ADOM (my first exposure to Rosetta) doesn't quite reach the heights of their other records. It's still a damn good album, but just not the direction I would have liked.

This album is so raw, promising and yet monumentally complex and purposeful. "Itinérant/Ross 128" nearly moves me to tears. So emotional.

I am 9 years late to the discussion but Zaireeka from The Flaming Lips (which was released 2 years before Time of Grace, I think) took this to another level by having 4 different 'versions' which were intended to be played in different combinations (only 1 or with 2, 3 or all 4 of them at the same time). Definitely not metal and maybe not your taste, but it's worth checking out its creation and what they intended to do with it (such as 'The Parking Lot Experiments'...the wikipedia page already appears to have some info!). There are probably older albums/pieces with a similar idea but I am too lazy to go deep into this

And about The Galilean Satellites: listened to it for the first time today and it does kick ass. Any sludge/post-metal fan should give it a try, even if the recent output from Rosetta didn't appeal to you.

This album might be called Galilean Satellites, but Rosetta sure have a preference for Europa. What about poor Io, Ganymede, and Callisto?

I don't really have any deeper analysis to offer, but this album is just insanely good. Listening to this thing with a good high quality hifi equipment is nothing short of an experience.
