American metallers Chastain are one of the best kept secrets in metal; those who have discovered them know what classics they have to offer, while those who are blissfully unaware miss out big time. Ruler Of The Wasteland is the second outing by the band and one that does not look back as it blasts out the gate and leaves you in its dust.

Don't like this one that much tbh, the songs are always the same and you will know how they're gonna be as soon as you read the song title. Some riff and vocals, then some shred and the chorus will be the song title repeated a couple of times. Too predictable.

It was strange seeing Karl commenting on an album from 1986.

In fact I actually found a lot of good stuff from the 80s and before on the past weeks.
None of them on MS though =p

That's odd
Maybe non of them are heavy/ power/thrash metal, right?

It's pretty much a straight on follow-up to the debut, very similar in production and songwriting. I prefer the debut but it's still a good record. Angel Of Mercy, Living In A Dreamworld and Children Of Eden are my favourites.

Yeah, I can agree that songs here are quiet repetitive. But still I can hear a bunch of solid riffs, so overall it was a pleasant listen.
