Awesome debut album. Very retro, but thats not really a bad thing in my opinion.

This could well be the scooby doo soundtrack
Anyway, very enjoyable album, very catchy and happy-satanic feeling. 8/10

Haha yeah, Satanic, Scooby-Doo Weird Al kind of thing going on. Honestly, even though it's 'retro', it's a fresh breath for me. I can't stop listening to the CD and already telling many about it.

Best song on this album, I quite often just put it on repeat and listen to it a few times in a row.

Next time these guys release an album, I might be a full-on Satanist.

That's the only thing I didn't like.
The lyrics are so cheesy it's laughable.

I thought that at first too. Then I saw them live with Opeth and Mastodon, blew my mind! The guitarist had incense burning on a massive stack of Orange Amps. Satan would be proud of them.

Damn this album is a shrinker. Upon first listen it was an 8 for me but currently it is at a 6. It gets old and boring after a few spins. A shame because their 7" debut promised so much.

Same for me, I loved the sound of this album the first few listens but it grew stale surprisingly quickly.

Agreed. I'm not sure what drew people in so much initially - the first time I listened to this I thought it was very... ordinary.

I can appreciate the nice BOC/Sabbath/Mercyful Fate sound they've got going but it just gives me the inclination to listen to their material instead, the first two in particular. Never really enjoyed Mercyful Fate.

I think it has to do with how much did you listen to those bands you mentioned before checking out Ghost. I think I had listened to only 4 Sabbath records or so before checking this out, so it makes sense that I liked it a lot. It's likely that if you heard a couple albums of each of those bands and other similar artists, you won't be interested in this at all.
On the other hand, I guess guys like Hetfield, Anselmo and Fenriz know all their discographies by memory and still, they wear their shirts. Who knows...
There's a theory that there is a "supergroup" hidden under the cloaks, that would explain why the band got big so fast and gets that much support from bigger bands.

BOC I listen to fairly regularly, as well as a few Sabbath albums every now and then. So I suppose that explains why I find this underwhelming, in part. I also find the music here somewhat wanting, and it lacks the creativity of their inspirations. That might also depend on my disinclination toward Mercyful Fate.
Yeah the whole mysterious aspect is a novelty which has garnered most of the attention they've received I think. Still, if they are a "supergroup" it sounds to me like they're doing an unimpressive job.

they are not a supergroup
Only one band member is a full time member of the band and that's the vocalist, who happens to also be the vocalist of Repugnant.
All other members vary from show to show, depending who is available to play. Selim from The Devil's Blood has played guitar for them a couple of times, for example.
