It's hard for me to pick a favorite GTT release, but I think in the end it's between this and L'Arrivee De La Terne Mort Triomphante

My first GTT album. I think I actually first listened to it around when it was first released and was amazed back then how listenable it was despite on the surface sounding horrific and impenetrable. I distinctly recall how cinematic I found it. Seriously complex stuff and definitely a good representative album of the band.

I always like to highlight the ending of this album. The Urge To Participate In Butchery has such a sorrowful riff near the end (starting at 5:45).

It's almost poetic in a sense and with intense feeling of melancholy. Makes me think of a war hymn. One of the rare occasions where I found GTT to be extremely melodic and beautiful.
The fact that is the last song of the album also intensifies that feeling... It's almost like a revelation. Finding extreme beauty in extremely wrong things.

Oh, and that interrogation (which is real btw) is fucking terrifying.

Teeth That Leer Like Open Graves has got to be one of the most haunting songs in existence. That opening.....so chilling

Probably my go-to song for introducing someone to GTT.

I'm honestly not sure what to think. I'm fairly new to Morie's work and it's so different from what i'm used to. I'll definetly have to give this some more spins.

If you're looking for some more accessible points of entry into his work, I would check out Cloak Of Altering. The project has a lot less noise influence and a lot more experimentation with black metal. Just a suggestion!

I once got a guy whose taste is summed up by Genesis to listen to that album. I was assuming that he would hate it and I'd get a good laugh, but he actually liked it and I was floored. I guess there's an underlying universal appeal to them among people who actually have taste.

Bands that suck: Dream Theater, Dragonforce, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, the folk rock half of Led Zeppelin, 99% of thrash metal bands from the turn of the century, Mumford & Sons, any death metal band influenced by Necrophagist.

That is all for now.

This one never clicked with me, Idk why. All The Dread Magnificence of Perversity is much better.
