For real this time? Some how I doubt it. They've had almost as many delays as Wintersun...

Woah.. this is something very different. "Operatic metal" seems an apt label, as does avantgarde.

The band are true to their word as well it seems, you can download the album from their website: http://www.aberrantvascular.com/discography/aegisthus/

This. is. stunning.

And SHIT. The vocals are of quality rarely seen in metal. This guy has serious control of his voice... and can do so much with it. This is vocal talent, people. Take note.

And the music. Also stunning. And fascinating! The heaviness, the tenderness, the chasm in between... it's all there.

My thoughts exactly, dat voice!
This is damn awesome, even though I enjoyed Epica's release a bit more I might bet my money on the originality of these guys for the sympho awards.

I tried to get into this band, but I just can't. His voice is great (male operatic vocals are still rare in metal), but the music just lacks something for me. No memorable melodies maybe? But I will keep an eye on them, hopefully the next one will be better.

This is interesting, by moments reminded me of a softer version Asgaroth with cleaner vocals (the way the keys/orchestra blends with the metal parts). Quite recommended.
