Here's what you need to know: a rift in post-metal has formed.

I don't know really how to explain the vocals sound so impressive to me, I don't know if this would be a matter of taste or nope.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm equally bewildered by the response towards the vocals. I think it's unfair to characterize her singing as stereotypical "I'm a girl doing metal" kind of vocals, because there's so much more substance to what she's doing. Actually, that's a pretty loose critique anyway and not really in concrete terms that can contribute to any kind of useful discussion, so I can understand your dissatisfaction there and I understand why you would reply to that. As R'Vannith put it, the impressive nature of the vocals comes purely from the "mind rending vocal twists" that very few of her peers in the genre have come close to equalling; Lunar Caustic, for example, features a nice part in the middle in which her vocals get progressively more sickening, in a very fluid way that's not jarring or unnatural within the composition. I don't think there are many others in the genre that can really pull that kind of thing in such a satisfying way. She manages to combine elements from Subrosa and Tool extremely adequately, while adding personal identity to it. It all comes down to personal taste, of course, but I think Zofia is probably one of the best female vocalists I've ever heard. If any of you have heard better female vocals than these ones, please feel to pass them along to me.

I've already mentioned my problem with the last few tracks, but the first 3/5 of the record are great to me. I think it's easy to lose momentum towards the end of the album, and although I enjoyed the first 3/5 of the album, I think the slow openings can be tedious for a lot of listeners. But overall, it's undoubtedly a very good album at the very minimum. The current Metal Storm average is perfect, imo.

I think you need to relax a little. Not everyone who posts here is going to agree with you and we certainly aren't all going to rave about this the way you want. You've quoted literally every user who has posted a different opinion than you in this thread and you get yourself all worked up over a difference of personal taste.

but it's called stating my opinion over an album which I like, you implicitly are telling me to get silence.

I really don't see what's the problem with the vocals. I don't see any type of "vibe" in her voice. Haven't listened to the whole thing but so far is sounding great. Their style sounds pretty authentic to me, even though I wouldn't know how to explain why.

They have the classic "hey look at me I'm a girl singing in a metal band! I'm one of the guys!" vibe.

I understand that you probably don't accept aggressive parts in Zofia's execution but there is no way to speak about "classic - I'm one of the guys!". Extremes wonderfully interwoven here with a feminine delicacy. Example: "Lunar Caustic", 4.30 - 5.45 - for me just the quintessence of femininity. I will not mention about such vocal-stunts like "Void", where we hear a beautiful Zofia's glossolalia (Lisa Gerrard should be impressed) - simply electrifying impression. I respect, though I don't understand your objection.

I'm not telling you to do anything - I'm suggesting maybe you ease up a little in terms of how you approach quoting others who state an opinion that differs from your own.

I understand that you probably don't accept aggressive parts in Zofia's execution...

The overly forced and "brutal" aspect of her vocals are what make the "classic" in my books. Most "aggressive" female vocals tend to overdo the delivery, and that's exactly what happens here.

This still doesn't make any sense as an objection. I don't see the correlation between "classic" and "brutal"...

Additionally, I don't get the sense that she has "over-delivered" the vocals at all, nor do I get the sense that she has forced the brutality upon the music itself.

...yea.
Great album, maybe weaker than its predecessor, but hecka compact n' solid. No issues with the vocals either, good enough but I seriously don't see anything worth f(l)apping over.

Alright, just had to pop on and say a few things about this particular album. It has had me in it's claws for quite a long while now. And like many people here, I think that overall, it's a damn brilliant album. A real gem, but what gets me everytime are the vocals. They're so tormenting and full of both agony and insanity. I just love 'em.

A real twisted kind of album with such hauntingly beautiful atmosphere that I've no choice, but to hopelessly surrender myself to the album's overwhelmingly dark embrace time after time. As for the rating, this album deserves nothing less than a 10 from me.

Cheers.

Coming back to this, it's still incredibly fresh.
I'd easily call it one of the best metal albums of this recent decade.
