Actually it's been less than four years since Maiden's last album. One bad Judas Priest album doesn't mean anything either, it's by no means their first bad album. Yes, the bands are old, that's what happens when people get old, but metal is hardly dead. There are plenty of good new bands, if you are complaining about them not sounding like the old sound, well, that's because the old sound has already been done, and people want fresh ideas. Complaining about the old bands being out of new ideas is silly, do you want a new sound or do you want an old sound? You seem to be complaining that there is no new ideas, but then complaining about the new ideas not being like the old ideas. You can't have it both ways. Metal is only as dead as any other genre which is "old".
no offense ,my friend but... there's nothing groundbreaking from these young bands you're talking about ! which one do you think have the "FRESH IDEAS" in heavy metal genre ? i'm curious cause i'm a devoted fan of heavy metal !
old bands are out of the ideas BECAUSE :they seem to lost their passion, youth ,strength, originality ! so they can't neither excite us like the 80's nor they've the passion to create something new like... let's say "fresh ideas"!
don't make it so complicated ! all i want and i believe many of headbangers want too is something exciting ! it doesn't matter it's like "old sound " or " fresh sound" !
of course in clean vocals .
Mastodon would probably be the most recent big one.

talk about Redeemer Of Souls.
Here's a question about your rating, not that I can say I agree or disagree with it since I haven't heard the album*. But in what world does a 69/100 round to a 6? Or did you change your mind slightly after listening to it more?
*Other than maybe 20 seconds of one of the songs on the radio.

I actually downgraded it to 62, hence the 6

I see. I actually liked the few seconds of the song I heard on the radio but I have a feeling when I listen to the album in full I'm not gonna be as blown away as by Sin After Sin or anything.

What happened to the guitar solos?
Anyway, I think it's better than Jugulator and Point Of Entry, but worse than British Steel and Ram It Down. How this has a higher rating than Rocka Rolla is beyond me.

I would say that the fact that people are going off-topic so much is a testament to how boring Redeemer of Souls truly is, but really, going off-topic on an internet forum is about as common as groceries in a Costco. That said, it's obvious how much Rob's voice has truly deteriorated over the years on here (Halls of Valhalla being the one exception, that some say isn't very convincing either way). Don't get me wrong, I know he's 62 on here and you can't really expect a 62 year old to shriek like a banshee, but I simply can't dig his new singing style.

Don't they? Did you ask them all? Oh i see, cause you don't, no one else could. Silly me huh?
I don't have to as I knew it wothout asking.
Psychologically hatred comes from physical and emotional harm caused by something or someone which I don't think this album can bring us such a damage.
But I see hatred in your post, I guess you're hurt by me emotionally.
No. Id have to care about your opinion to be hurt by you.

Took a few spins, but now I really like this album. Yes they're in their 60s and they won't be releasing a new DotF or a new Painkiller anytime soon, but RoS is good and that's all I need.

I don't get why people hate this album. Yes the 2 previous albums were better of course, but this one holds its ground just fine. Halford doesn't go as high as before which is logical and the production sounds like the 70's but that's it. The songs themselves are really good (Cold Blooded, Halls Of Valhalla, Secrets Of The Dead, Beginning Of The End). It is important to note that Rob Halford sounds exactly the same on the low to medium notes as he did 30 years ago which is something extra ordinary for a singer in his age...

Kick ass album, heavy album, one of their bets kick few 80's album asses, kicks whole 90's asses, even painkiller. MNot so promoted, maybe for todays standarts yes, but for JP this is to weak promotion, but what can I say, folks simply don't listen music after high school

The production kind of ruins this album, Rob sounds bored half the time but a couple of songs are able to rise above it: Battle Cry, Cold Blooded, Metalizer and imo easily the best song on the album: Sword of Damocles - for all the flaws of this album to me Sword of Damocles is an instant classic.

Starts off quite nice with some decent tracks as the title track, Halls of Valhalla and Down in Flames. It then quickly spiral into mediocrity before only to pick up at the last three songs. This is not counting the deluxe version tracks which are nothing special, quite boring all of them sadly. One large problem here is that all the songs except for the last song seems to follow the same tempo and structure, I get that they didn't want to make a Nostradamus part 2 but still some variation would have benefited the album.
If this would have been a tight 45 minute record it would have been a nice one. Now it feels heavy watered down and you need the skip button close to you.

While I probably prefer Firepower over this because it is more ferocious like Painkiller, I like the unique dark tone of Redeemer of Souls. Songs like Secrets of the Damned sounds like something from black metal or Slayer - and not something you'd expect from the same people who did Breaking the Law!
In typical Priest fashion, their songs are always catchy with great guitar-work and a fantastic scream by Halford on Halls of Valhalla. Of course, the album isn't perfect and I find the first and last songs to be the weakest. But otherwise, the album is pretty enjoyable. My favorites are Sword of Damocles, Cold Blooded, March of the Damned, Hell and Back, and of course Halls of Valhalla.

Not their best or most well produced, but it's still a very solid heavy metal record, especially at this later stage in their career, the guitar tone sounds different to anything previous too, it sounds more raw and has a darker tone to it, and Halford's vocal performance on this had clearly shown no indication of declining, he still had shown an incredible degree of vocal skill.
If anything I would say that over an hour is a wee bit too much on the lengthy side for this, alot of top heavy metal bands had started doing this later in their career such as Iron Maiden, sometimes I find it's better when they keep to the shorter, and more your face heavy metal albums, as opposed to the lengthy, more complex structured one's, but if there is enough quality tracks on a lengthier album, this might not be much of an issue, but this has one too many average tracks imo. There is also some really good quality tracks on this, like "Cold Blooded", "Halls of Valhalla", and "Sword of Damocles".
