When the most famous Heavy metal band on Earth decides to record a double live CD for their stage entrance in the new millennium, you already ought to be interested in the product. But when it's also the first live album after the historical return of both Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith, you must be totally overexcited. That's how I felt while listening to the treasure chest that is "Rock In Rio". So obviously, Rio is a great place to record a live album or it's more likely that the audience of Rio is simply better than anywhere else?? I won't solve that question myself but I can tell you that an album recorded in front of a Brazilian audience is usually a sign of a great album already.

One of the best live albums, both the cd and dvd versions. The sound and performance is really tight and it feels alive. The setlist is pretty much flawless and some of the songs have their best live versions here. I also think it was a good idea to cut off plenty of Bruce speeches and swearing in the songs, listening to the bootleg of the show it gets a bit over the top. If there's anything to complain about is that they didn't play The Fallen Angel and Out of the Silent Plant on this show (which they played on a couple of shows before Rock in Rio), they would have been fantastic addition to the album.
