I wish this sort of bm dead as soon as possible. But again that can be said about 98% of bm in general.

07.10.2016 - 10:42 Written by angel. on 07.10.2016 at 03:04 Well aparantly I was too drunk last night, but anyways I was being half-serious. But hey, I really don't like this type of BM. It is just lame and empty for me. I also dislike most of atmoblack/symphonic black/ folk black/ DSBM/ entire 1st and 2nd wave and the bands that worship them.

Its not as strong as the second wave but it works I think False is the best usbm, dont like them?

False are quite decent but best USBM? Pretty huge stretch considering how much good stuff is from the US.

07.10.2016 - 15:29 Written by [user id=157444] on 07.10.2016 at 15:21 Nah. I like avantgarde BM,ambeint BM, drone BM and noisy BM. Industrial BM can be also very enjoyable but it is dead for now. I also very much love densely layered BM like akhlhys. For atmoblack, I again like records with huge wall of sound and dense guitar layers like Earth and Pilars. French BM has lost its momentum now, and we had not seen noticeable records from that scene this year. Iceland BM is indeed very nice, but it should diversify a bit and make it distinguishable from French BM. There are two French and 2 Iceland BM records on my 2016 list as for now. Schammasch, skaphe and Nox formula did the best BM records this year, non of which are from France or Iceland I also have heard false back in 2015 and gave it a retry yesterday when U posted it again. Nice, but would not call it great tbh.

Account deleted Written by angel. on 07.10.2016 at 15:28 Dunno, I can think of a few good things from there: Ruins of Beverast, Nagelfar, Infestus, Aaskereia, Verdunkeln, Dark Tribe, Fäulnis, etc. Probably more dotted around. Also, I thought you were a big fan of Lunar Aurora?

07.10.2016 - 15:36 Written by [user id=4365] on 07.10.2016 at 15:33 Oh yeah Lunar Aurora is a great one, I know a few of those above, Ruins of Beverast is certainly the most attractive one. Just saying US scene is wonderful although one might expect that somewhere in Northern Europe you'll have more of such US BM bands.

07.10.2016 - 15:38 Written by 3rdWorld on 06.10.2016 at 05:48 I've never really associated their sound with Deafheaven, I think they're much more of a Wolves In The Throne Room emulator than anything else. That said, that might be why I enjoyed their previous album more because it felt like a totally excellent channeling of the early WITTR sound (without outright cloning), while this sounds more like... something else. Not Deafheaven though. Still pretty good, but somehow feels a little less epic and folkloric compared to Elder Giants. That said, these guys were awesome at Roadburn last year. Really great live band and their frontman, with his huge, nerdy-looking glasses, totally has the stereotypical "hipster black metal" look

Account deleted Written by mz on 07.10.2016 at 15:29 Fair enough. Have some of the people who liked second wave left ms? It seems the original second wave bands are highly praised but the bands playing second wave now doesnt get much attention. I joked about french and icelandic because they get so much attention, not pinpointing you

Account deleted Written by [user id=4365] on 07.10.2016 at 15:26 Its a great album. It was a bit steep in the beginning before I got acquainted with it, but now its just lovely. Not sure its your thing though, its quite melodic and the songs are stretched.

07.10.2016 - 20:16 Written by Auntie Sahar on 07.10.2016 at 15:38 Well I'm a WITTR n00b and only heard Celestial Lineage which I didn't enjoy quite a lot so the only sound this reminded me is of Deafheaven. So I can't identify even if this has a lot of wittr influences/sounds alike. And yeah that hipster bm look seems to be the new rage these days. I actually like it more than the traditional looks really. Nothing beats the look of this Wrekmeister Harmonies guy though.

07.10.2016 - 20:25 Written by 3rdWorld on 07.10.2016 at 20:16 Nah, not Celestial Lineage, that's more of the "new" WITTR sound so to speak, Sun Worship is more akin to the Diadem/Two Hunters approach, minus the atmospheric effects. And I like the look too, if for no other reason than the fact that it's testament to just how far black metal has come aesthetically over the years. We've come a long way from bullet belts, spikes, and corpse paint

Account deleted Written by 3rdWorld on 07.10.2016 at 20:16 You should defo check out the first two Wolves albums. Might not sound that interesting considering you heard all the influences first but they still take most of the influenced bands to the cleaners in sheer quality I'd say. I feel like this could almost be the quintessential song of its type.

Yeah that sounds a bit more darker than the standard blackgaze I've heard from recent bands so I guess I will give the full thing a try later.

I must say they sounded absolutely bland and overrated in their live show specially that they used playback. I wonder how did they find their to Roadburn to play there.
