It must be me. Everyone else is loving this one, even non-symph fans. I got bored I'll give it another try since so far The Human Contradiction is still way above this album, for me.

Another solid album from these guys and ladies.

That melody on "The Monarch" won't leave my head... I've probably listened to that track 20 times already.

too bad this track is so short, they should make it 10 min+

Some good songs, some meh. I'll have to spin it a few more times, my opinion may change. White-Gluz's input was unnecessary and added nothing.

Edit: It's grown on me. Some of Delain's best work, although I find "Fire With Fire" pretty underwhelming. Also, "The Monarch" should have been so much longer. It's a very good release overall.

The Human Contradiction was indeed better than this one. I don't know why they put a song like Chrysalis on the album, sounds like it belongs to a C-side disk. I think the new album is merely good.

The first 3 songs are amazing

I'm not crazy about track 2 - it's a bit dull for a single, IMO. Tracks 1 and 3 are great, though.

The album drops off a big towards the end, but overall it's a solid release.

I want to love this, but I'm not there yet. Great orchestration and performance. I often find albums that need a good few listens to get into end up being your favourites. So going for play number 10. It's getting there.

I think it's their strongest release so far. Very strong album, great songs, insanely well written harmonies and melodies, they knew 100% what they are going for this time. On top of all that great ear food, Charlotte's voice is something magical. Not surprised at all for making it in the Top 2016 albums. Good job, Delain! \m/

I feel the same. I really want to love it, but some of the tracks don't appeal to me. I'm growing more fond of it with each listen, though.

It does start quite well: the first 3 tracks are the best in the album. Then, the next 2 are the usual boring slow-paced songs found in every Delain album, which puts me off for the rest even though there are a few acceptable songs ahead.

Agreed... Hans of gold" featuring White-Gluz" ... is the weakest sond... everything else is solid...

This album, to me, goes nowhere. It starts OK but it just becomes the "Delain sound" after a few tracks. Last album was far better I think.

The only songs I'm not that fond of are Hands of Gold and Chrysalis. Everything else is fantastic. Fire with Fire is probably my favorite, but Turn the Lights Out and their cover of Scandal are a close second and third.

I re-listened and ok, I "get" it a bit more now. It's not as good as the first two albums but overall it's a decent return to form. 6 > 7

If you were listening symphonic metal for last 10 years, listened to the within temptation, nightwish, epica, lyriel and others, then this album sounds completely useless, it is stream of average noise that ends after an hour and I cannot remember a single strong moment.

Have you not heard Delain before? They have always had a more accessible pop sound, just because it's not complex symphonic does not mean it's bad.
In fact this is the very reason I like them as they have their own sound and kept to it.
