Good album, but I think I'm getting the same feelings as I am with the latest SubRosa in that it's just more of the same. I'm wanting to see what else they do at this point.

Strange, I thought that the latest Subrosa was quite different from their previous achievements (less heavy and more subtle).

This one surely isn't nothing new.

Yeah maybe more different than this one is. I dunno, I think it's just band fatigue or something.

Bands repeating their own formula is ok. Hell, we have bands trying to copy OSDM. The pronlem with ulcerate at this point is that their sound is too intense to be used on four albums. I guess if DsO wanted to release 200 minutes of music similar to kenos they would have got the same reactio.
That being said, i really loved this record.

Personally I can never have enough of Ulcerate. Atleast so far. But can't think of how they can evolve their sound tbh, maybe more doomy and heavy would be interesting.

Sounds a bit too refined for me. Could've used some more dissonance/some experimentation with the palette.

But still un-fucking-believable considering how consistent they maintain their sound.

This is hands down the best death metal album of the year. Yield to Naught is my favorite track.

Yeah I like the term "band fatigue", the album is really, really good but it still somehow bores me

Yeah it's weird. Sometimes I find myself not listening to, or really looking forward to, bands I really like when they bring new stuff out. I figured it was an age thing.

Saw them live last night in Vancouver. Extinguished Light and Shrines of Paralysis were amazing live.

This is my favorite album of theirs, personally. It feels a bit heavier than their previous efforts and the vocals are a bit more aggressive. I don't usually enjoy listening to Ulcerate for extended periods of time, they don't click with my taste. This album however is nice the whole way through.

Everything Is Fire and The Destroyers Of All are their best stuff if you ask me.

they are the best dm band ever for sure. But maybe not on this album. Check TdoA.
Still a great album, but it is too similar in terms of approach to the previous records, without going as high.

You mean like since when? Because I think the late '80s early '90s DM bands would have something to say about that

if you are a consistent band and managed to produced the best death metal record, then you are the best db band I'm not talking about the most influential dm band.

Agree, Ulcerate are great, but if I had to pick the best DM ever? Entombed. Old school FTW!!!
