Ihsahn, the turtleneck-wearing manbun-sporting god of progressive black metal, is no stranger to alienating his fanbases. Whether alienating fans of Emperor by abandoning most of his black metal sound on later Emperor releases and his solo career or fans of his avantgarde phase by releasing the much more conventional Arktis. Now comes Ámr to build upon its predecessor.

Love Ihsahn, but man... this album sounds like shit. Wtf happened to the mix and mastering :s
The drum sounds like a Roland electronic drum. Really disappointed here.

I really love this one. I understand why some people would hate the more squashed drums, but I think they give it a super electronic-meets-metal sound. Not industrial metal, which has been done and done again, but a more unique hybrid. This to me is like if 1970s Brian Eno decided to make a metal album. I am totally into it.

What a dark and intoxicating album!

It touches so many emotions and sounds.

And THAT bonus track based on "Alone" by Edgar Allan Poe
