Most of the time, the loss of a vocalist in a band is followed by either a break-up or a replacement. But Night Verses ain't having none of that. From The Gallery Of Sleep proves that there is no need for a vocalist in the band.

I'll keep it simple... From The Gallery Of Sleep is the most exciting instrumental album you'll hear all year. It's proggy, layered and fun. We're not worthy of Aric Improta's drumming. He is so good!

Progressive metalcore? I get it that their earlier albums were more towards the hardcore/ metalcore style, but this is more "Progressive" and "Instrumental" don't you think?

I might change the genre to progressive if future release strip away the core sound. Until then, progressive metalcore isnt as unfiting as hardcore was

Sorry for spamming, but I have to admit that Aric Improta is a GOD behind the drum set

Edit: After numerous listens it's a post-metal abum in my eyes. Don't be fooled by the label here.

Spotted these guys a while ago, really nice album but I'm quite surprised it ended up on this site, the correct tags for this would be something like prog/djent/alt. rock. To me it is the djent part that makes it really enjoyable, they keep the balance between neat riffs and sneaky melodies.

I dunno the only real post metal band that comes to mind that sounds even close to this is The Ocean. And those guys do prog metalcore as well so

What's this? An album actually dethroned Amorphis album on our charts? Jesus, I might have to check this out just going off of that alone

It's easily one of my top albums from the year so you should definitely jump on it. The most interesting thing in our top 20 by a fairly wide margin.

Progressive metalcore definitely sounds enticing, especially if it's good metal core and not the watered down mallcore crap. It's going on my To Listen list then

Yeah honestly that metalcore tag doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me

Huh. What would you say the sound is closer to then?

I haven't been listening to a super amount of new metal, but this is obviously a frontrunner for post metal AOTY. If it was a little more concise at points, I'd probably be even more enamoured.

But yeah, like others were saying, the drumming is absolutely ridiculous on this album! What a performance. And the moments of djent push this over the edge too!

Techy Instrumental modern prog, with a fair amount of quieter ambient-like moments and tracks. It's pretty good, but personally it could do with culling some of the quieter moments.

Best instrumental I can recall in a long while. Great songwriting, excellent musicianship, top-notch engineering, fun samples, and damn...that drummer.

If you like drums, a good groove, a lot of notes, mathness, and no singer this is for you. I really like the way they mixed this, drums are high. Phenomenal straight through, it just gets a little slow for my metalness sometimes, so 9. The zzzzt in trading shadows was cool until it wasn't.

My favorite track is No.0

Very good stuff and surprise of the year for me! This is the first time djent really catches my attention. I might look further into that. Great, great drums and guitars, and the ambient parts often including voice samples add soul to the songs which I often feel is lacking in music without vocals. This could very well be the best instrumental metal album I have heard.

It's so unmemorable that I got Trading Shadows stuck in my head for pretty much all year long .
