This is probably going to be a decent album, but after the whole Ailyn incident, I just can't listen to them, out of spite.

I don't remember there being much of an incident. Sirenia fired her and found a new singer. Don't think we ever even got a reason for the firing.

That excuse is stupid. You are missing a great album. Arcane Astral Aeons is a thousand times better than "The Enigma Of Life", "The 13th Floor" and "Nine Destinies And A Downfall".

Album of the year, for sure. When was the last time we were gifted with such a fantastic symphonic gothic album?

I never expected to hear something THAT good from Morten ever again. Enormously surprised.

Is a strong one, but ahead this one are the Amorphis' one, the Guardians of Time's one, also Judas Priest, and even Orion's Reign
Surely will be the best Symphonic Metal album

I'm gonna be honest..I watched about a minute of the lyric video for Love Like Cyanide and thought it was a bit crap, did hear the song on Spotify beforhand and thought it was just above avarge so it all kinda turned me off.
Just another one of them okay-ish goth releases I thought.
But after having listening to the album a few times I must say I was shockingly suprised.
After the mumbo jumbo with this band I expected they would just fade into nothingness, a little bit weaker on each record til one day they would decide enough is enough.
Not only is this a superb album in it's genre but it might even be the best Sirenia album to date, congrats 🤘

Damn, this is a fantastic album. I skipped Dim Days cause of the poor reviews and cause I rather liked Ailyn, but this is really good stuff. The background radio audio or whatever that's present in some songs is weird and what little I could understand of it seems to have little to do with the lyrics.
I have to say while I like every song on this album, there are some sections in a few songs that I really don't like. Nos Heures Sombres is probably my favorite song on the album, with the exception of the extended interlude that begins with Emmanuelle switching to operatic vocals randomly at the end of a verse. That entire interlude just disrupts the mood of the song, IMO. She does this in Aerodyne too, but there it feels absolutely right and fits in perfectly. Asphyxia is another favorite, and I love how in the verses the guitar and vocals complement each other perfectly.

I've been thinking for quite awhile now that there are 2 things this band needed to do to write another successful album: 1. Cut the chanting choirs down. 2. Increase vocal diversity. Finally after many albums they have done it! The choirs were starting to get boring and stale, in this album they cut them out almost completely (theres a few short parts but nothing close to what they did previously). As for vocal diversity, they've been giving Morten a bigger role in the last few albums and that continues here, but this time they also bring in some guest vocals which add a nice extra layer to songs. The diversity is certainly not back to the level of Sixes and Sevens, but still nice.
Pretty good album overall! Need to listen to it more but so far i'm liking In Styx Embrace, Queen of Lies and Love Like Cyanide the most.
