Biography

Kronos were formed in 1994 in Thaon-les-Vosges (northeast of France) by drummer Michaël Saccoman and Jérôme Grammaire (vocals, guitar). The band played at this point some heavy/thrash metal. Two years later, Christophe Gérardin joined the band as the main vocalist. Kronos then began to play death metal and recorded their first demo, "Outrance". In 1999, Tom Viel joined the band as bassist. Kronos became more affiliated with the brutal death metal sound they are known for today, with lyrical concepts relating to ancient Greek mythology. The following year the band released a split promo EP with None Divine, the main members' side project.

The long-awaited first album "Titan's Awakening" was released in 2001. The first edition of the album was produced by the band itself. The band received critical acclaim for their skill and subsequently signed their first contract with Warpath Records (former Shockwave). A new edition of "Titan's Awakening" was released at the end of October of the same year with a new cover designed by Deather (Angel Corpse, Gurkkhas, Vital Remains) as well as a new graphical booklet. Richard Chuat joined in 2003 as lead guitarist. The band then signed a contract for two upcoming albums with the new Spanish label Xtreem Music managed by Dave Rotten (Avulsed).

"Colossal Titan Strife" was released in 2004, which received positive reviews worldwide and additionally sold very well. The band became more prominent afterwords in the extreme music scene and played concerts in several European countries, including Germany, Czech Republic, and Poland, to name a few. Internationally successful bands such as Deeds Of Flesh, Fleshless, and Avulsed joined them throughout their many tours.

After a long period of live performances, Kronos entered the famous Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland, July 2006 to record their sophomore release, "The Hellenic Terror". The album continued with the ancient Greek mythology concepts and cemented the band's crushing death metal sound. With Christophe Gérardin having left the band in 2009, Kronos are currently searching for a new lead vocalist in order to produce new material after releasing a compilation album in 2009 entitled "Prelude To Awakening".
