Biography
-Ūkanose" (In the mist) - the place where the souls of ancestors can hide. Old Lithuanians believed that the bodies of the deads continue their existence as the fog - mist. The ancestors used to say that the mist is the fire of waters, that is created when two diferent origins combine.
What is more, in Lithuanian language the word -ūkanose" sounds similar to ūkti, ūkavimas ( hoot ), so it is related to sound which is wild, not domesticated, coming from the wind or from the deep forests.
Ūkanose members are interested in old Lithuanian culture, heritage, folklore.
They take the old songs and recrate in their own way. Of course there are some songs written by themselves, which encourage to search for the bond with the ancestors and the old culture, heritage.
This folk metal band formed in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 2012 by guitarist, songwriter Linas Petrauskas, and accordionist, songwriter Tadas Survila. In 2014 the single "Trijų seselių" was released and after a year recording of the full length album begun. In the autumn of 2016 it was released. The debut album "Ūkanose" consists of nine songs that fans may already know! Recording and mixing were done by Muzikos laboratorija. The cover artwork, created by Natalia Nadia Osipa. Album design was made by Kornelija Jociūtė. You can purchase the album at the label's "Soundage production" webshop or contact the band directly. During the summer and the spring of 2018, half of the members have changed. They invited new drummer Vilius ( Sagittarius ) to join. After couple of months the flutist Greta joined the band. She was meant to replace Tadas (accordion). In the March of 2018 they had last show with vocalist Martynas and guitarist Robertas. They were replaced by new guitarist Laurynas (Sagittarius) and vocalist ( he is not officially introduced yet). After 10 months Tadas rejoined the band and now Greta and Tadas are both in.
Among many concerts in Lithunia they participated in such festivals as "I- kartos į kartą 2013", "Margos Pievos 2013", "Vasaknų alaus festivalis 2014", "Kilkim -aibu XVI - 2015", "Zobens un Lemmes 2015", "Mėnuo Juodaragis XIX - 2016", -Auszra 16 - 2017", " Kilkim -aibu XVIII - 2017"
