Biography
H e r f s ? is a 5 piece melodic death/black metal band from Belgium combining the brutality and sonic assault of death metal with the dark & brooding charm of black metal. This mixture, spiced up with harmonically rich guitar wizardry and a penchant for the melancholic, introspective soul of doom metal forms the essence of what they call 'Nekromantic metal'.
While composing straight from their dark hearts, the morbidity Herfst delivers honours the illustrious pallbearers of black/death/thrash and horror metal while maintaining a fresh and original sense of dynamics.
With this succulent combo of old and new, they are sure to leave their black marks on stages throughout Europe.
THE PAST:
After numerous line-up changes H e r f s ? seem to have found a truly necrotic synergy. Founding member Bram delivers most of the macabre melodies on his 7-string and guitarist Christophe churns out the tight rhythmic bile that accompanies them. Bassplayer Kurt spews forth the pulsations from the beyond, on bass while Ruben hammers away on his drum kit.
In 2011 the line-up is consolidated when Matthieu Van den Brande joins the deathkult with his charisma, theatrical stage experience and his passionate vocal capacities.
After a long period of struggle and strife H e r f s ? finally found a rock solid line up...
In the Fall of 2009 Herfs? released 'Necrotica'. The birth of a new era is marked. Finally their rich sonic tapestry has been sonically translated exquisitely by the Split Second Studios in Holland.
It is their most varied, their darkest, their most adventurous and rich endeavour to date. It features textured atmospheres, layered guitars, intricate melodies, skilled soloing, enriched by their trademark extensive Lovecraftian horror concept...
The international press response has been overwhelming, with staggering reviews scoring up to 97%!
ON STAGE:
Herfs? has played over 100 gigs together with international and national top-acts such as Dark Funeral (swe), Vital Remains (us), God Dethroned (nl), Belphegor (au), The Vision Bleak ( de ), Tankard (ger), Graveworm (ita), Anorexia Nervosa (fr), Scarve (fr), Horna (fin), Ancient Rites (bel), In-Quest (bel), Secrets Of The Moon (ger), The Legion (swe), Panchrysia (bel), ...
THE FUTURE:
On 19 May 2012 we will release The Deathcult EP I (Chapter one: an Oath in darkness). It will contain no less than 30 minutes of new material.
