Biography
Anthea is a melodic, progressive, symphonic metal band from Los Angeles, CA. The bands aims to create coherent yet diverse symphonic metal music with many influences from film scores and established metal acts such as Kamelot, Nightwish, and Wintersun.
In 2015, after spending much of his time writing new music, Diego Valadez (Cellador) met with drummer Peter Vasquez (Angel Sinestro). The two decided to form a band, giving an outlet to the material that was already in the works. They recorded their first demo under the band name 'Anthea.' This was accomplished with the help of some very talented studio musicians filling in for bass, guitar, screams, and additional vocal.s While recording, Anthea had been simultaneously searching for permanent members and were soon joined by guitarists Juan Pina and Marcos Mejia, as well as bassist Eric Guerrero.
With a combination of clean operatic vocals and black metal like screams, Anthea's music can appeal to a wide variety of metal fans. "Guitarist Juan Pina's screams and Valadez' clean vocals kept the dynamics interesting and brought out the extra push for something unique in comparison to what you would normally find in the majority of symphonic metal acts." - Jason Williams (Metal Assault).
"The band aren't afraid to heavy things up if they deem it necessary for the advancement of the song, meaning that The Anthea (Demo) is a varied and satisfying listening experience." Ferry Templeton (Sentinel Daily).
Anthea has performed live opening for bands such as September Mourning, Helion Prime, Graveshadow, and Abigail Williams at some historic venues such as the Whiskey a Go Go and the Hollywood Viper Room. The band has also been featured on Spectrum News 1 and the Metal Assault Podcast. Some members of Anthea have domestic as well as international touring experience.
Anthea signed to Rockshots Records in 2020 with their debut album "Illusion" being set for release on October 23rd of the same year.
