The music can most likely be described as melodic death metal, yet there are several forays into black metal to be found as well. The songs are very melodic with varied speeds as a whole. Everything from stomping rhythms to driving double-bass parts and blast beats is to be found in their music. Committed to the band's name lyrically, Sundead's songs deal with various apocalyptic scenarios, visions and an overall end-time feel.

During the recording of the debut album 'Ashes', Knut, Alex and Mark left the band. Tomasz ?Nefastus" Helberg (Lyfthrasyr, ex-Epiphora, ex-Luna Field, ex-Belphegor) could be recruited as drummer and the album was recorded by Chris, Micha, Ashima and Tomasz and released in December 2018.

In the meantime the band is completed by Flo - Bass and Marius - Guitar (ex-Dark Eternal), so the band is capable to play live again. Thanks to their long and partly mutual history in other bands back to the 90's, Sundead are anything but newcomers on stage.
