666 or 6 musicians – 6 years – 6. Album 6 years have passed since the release of their previous album „Amber – Skeletal Journeys Through The Void“. DARKSIDE, active since 1991, have taken their time with their newest output but it seems like it´s been worth it. Beside mastermind Wolf, 5 musicians have contributed to the new oevre, all of them hiding behind pseudonyms due to the several changes in the line-up throughout the past few years, but if one takes a closer look he can recognize one or two familiar faces amongst them. The stuff that the band from Lower Austria is delivering this time will be released as a double cd which reaches a playing time well over 100 minutes featuring a monothematical concept based on the life of Madeleine de la Palud, a young woman in the turmoil of the French inquisition of the 17th century. The monicker “death metal” can best describe the roots of the band nowadays, whose newest offering features a widely spread musical diorama not leaving out classical arrangements as well as elegiac melodies of three guitars. DARKSIDE 2013 means the love for music in general without denying their roots but still reinventing itself partially !
