Biography
A band with a long history and its roots in the purest metal, you are to discover a perfect mixture of aggression and melody. Founded in 1989 in Crete, stamped by a primitive old school death metal style. Deviser moved to Athens in 1992 and attracted the interest of the underground metal scene with demo’s and a 7” ep in 1994 entitled the revelation of higher mysteries. A promo tour took place in Greece and Holland in the context of the promotion regarding this release and later on, in the next year, Deviser unleashed “Thy blackest love” demo. With this release, Deviser signed up a worldwide deal with the Dutch rec. label, Mascot. Deviser recorded their debut album “Unspeakable cults” at the famous (back in the days) Praxis studio, in august ‘96. This album dragged air into the burning lungs of black metal with a unique amalgam of black and symphonic metal. On frequencies of chaos the individuals released “Transmission to chaos” via Mascot records in 1998, a strong full-length release that received great reviews in the international metal press. Successful live performances proved the increasing maturity of the band on stage (with Venom, Udo, Tiamat, Rotting Christ, Emperor, etc.). Deviser signed up with the LSP Company from Belgium. Running sore, the 3rd album, came out in 2002 and attracted huge interest with its rhythmical blackened extreme sound. A scheduled European tour and a support opening for Slayer and Rob Halford, was cancelled by the Greek authorities without obvious reasons.
“Thy blackest love-Early years” was released by Sleaszyrider rec., in 2004 which contains rare recordings and outtakes. A never to be released demo from 2006 with the addition of some fresh ideas back then, led to the release of the 2011 cd “Seasons of darkness” and the band split-up, until …2017, they reformed by the band’s core members, Matt and Nick. Brand new material can be heard in the 2019 release, “Howling flames” ep. In 2020 the band announced that they are working on a new album which would be called “Evil invites evil” to be released in 2021.
