Some new bands fight, strive and pursue their convictions to be heard. Plaguestorm is not a band proper, but the effort and struggle of a single person seems to be equal to that of any band with many members.
Plaguestorm is a studio project, and the founder's ideas are clear, Melodic Death Metal, following the path of those bands that influenced him, In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Hypocrisy, Soilwork ... that’s the path to forward.
The project was founded by Sebastián Pastor in early 2014, in the city of Bahía Blanca, Argentina, with a sound that mixes the old and new Melodic Death Metal, as if it were based on a Swedish manufacturing standard.
The first material "Everything’s Gone Wrong" (EP of 5 songs) was released independently on October 1, 2015 in digital format and CD. Sebastián wrote all the music and lyrics, although he would not be in charge of recording all the instruments, he preferred to hire the services of Diego Martínez (Nacer Muerto) as a session guitarist, an excellent and skilled musician from the city of Bahia Blanca.
The voices were in charge of Björn Strid (Soilwork) and Ryan Strain (Recode the Subliminal). The EP had a good reception by the public, magazines and specialized Zines, the attraction of the album was to have Björn "Speed" Strid in the voices, a novelty for a South American project. 2016 was a year of testing, the project was almost a band, but after a year of rehearsals, musicians coming and going, the idea did not work and everything went back to zero. Studio project.
2017 and 2018 were years of learning and composition, trial and error, also of joys and family problems, where the project went to the background for Seba. But in 2019 the energies were renewed and the ideas were integrated as a puzzle, one by one, to form what is now this new album "Mother of Plagues", the work was longer, difficult and ambitious, Seba wrote all the music , most of the lyrics and recorded all the instruments, also took care of the mixing and mastering.
The idea and passion for this album are the same, a combination of extreme, fast songs, songs with many melodies and harmonies, also some medium pace songs, heavy, dark and melancholic. For this album there were also many guest musicians, Mikael Sehlin (Engel / Degradead), Björn Strid (Soilwork), Fabio Bartoletti (Fleshgod Apocalypse), Ken Romlin (Night Crowned), Rodrigo Plasencia (Bolo / Undermine), Diego Martinez (Nacer Muerto), Pablo Román (Sobre Tus Cenizas) and Sebastián Nuñez Szymanski (Eroica), all contributed with great ideas making Plaguestorm's music go up to a new level.
