Biography
Lucious Bloodfire seemingly appeared out of nowhere in 2020 with a fistful of YouTube singles that whet the appetites of those worldwide who like their metal melodic and dark. Their much lauded debut album ‘Origin’ was released in Feb. 2021, featuring notable special guest guitarists Carey Howe (Leatherwolf), Craig Behrhorst (Ruffians), and Tom Draper (Pounder).
But ‘nowhere’ really started in 2015, when the nucleus of the band formed in Oakland, CA. Made up of a host of Bay Area rock/metal/punk alumni, Lucious Bloodfire (Walk The Sky, Mad Hatter), Jeff Lemas (Walk The Sky, Claymation Horror Show), Joe Selby (3 Years Down, The Winona Ryders), Rich Williamson (The End, Electric Jesus), Devin Lacey (Defcon 5, Ruffians) commenced work on what would ultimately be the melodic goth metal ear worms that made up their debut album.
Ah, the famous debut album. Originally released in Oct. 2020 under the title ‘World Insurrection’, with artwork that eerily foreshadowed the Jan 6th attack on the U.S. Capital. No, the band are not soothsayers (that we know of), nor did the band want to tie themselves to that historically awful day. They immediately pulled the album from distribution, came up with new artwork, a new title and further tweaked the masters, lending itself to a much improved version, released on Feb 1, 2021.
Plans to do shows to support the album in 2021 proved futile with the pandemic raging hard. A wise man once said ‘you gotta know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em’, and Lucious himself decided to pack up his coffin and relocate to Montreal to help spread the gospel of Lucious Bloodfire across the border to unsuspecting victims.
The band spent the better half of 2021 writing and recording a host of metal nuggets that will be coming out over the next year as a series of E.P.s titled ‘The Ninth Circle, Volumes 1-4’. Once the world is back to normal, you can sure as hell bet Lucious Bloodfire will finally hit the stage and perform these dark metal anthems for the masses. Until then, raise your horns high and celebrate Lucious Bloodfire!
