Biography

Hackneyed are five guys who addicted their lives to death metal in 2006. After the first musical try-outs, their first own tracks and appearances at small local shows with ever rotating line-ups, in 2007 with Devin joining the band, Hackneyed for the first time had a solid line-up in place. With him in the band, the songwriting did make a big step forward and Hackneyed were able to start playing bigger venues.

At the beginning of 2008 Hackneyed opened at Winter Freeze festival in Abtsgmünd and got the attention of Achim Ostertag, who arranged the first professional recording session for the band's debut 'Death Prevails', which caught the attention of Nuclear Blast, that released the album in the middle of 2008. Hackneyed wasn't only the youngest band Nuclear Blast ever signed, with an average age of 16 years they were also one of the youngest death metal bands worldwide. The signing to Nuclear Blast brought the band festival appearances at Summer Breeze, Death Feast and Rock Harz plus numerous shows all over Europe and tours with their idols of Morbid Angel, Kataklysm, Keep Of Kalessin and Aborted.

In 2009, Felix Papp got replaced by Juan Sierra and short after they recorded their second album for Nuclear Blast, 'Burn After Reaping', which again was followed by festival appearance at some of the biggest European metal festivals such as Summer Nights, With Full Force, Metal Camp, Summer Breeze and a European tour with Nile, Krisiun, Grave and Ulcerate.

In 2010, bass player Alex Büttner left the band and got replaced by Tini Wuttke, who had to give full power from day one with numerous live shows and a well received debut at Wacken Open Air. 2010 for the band ended with their first ever headlining tour.

In August 2011 they released their third album 'Carnival Cadavre' through Lifeforce Records. Also, Tini and Juan left the band. They were replaced by the brothers Fabian (bass) and Philipp Fink (guitar).

In 2012, Hackneyed played at many festivals, went on tour with Arch Enemy and entered the stage at the metal cruise Barge To Hell. After this, the band took a break in 2013.

In 2014, Hackneyed recorded a new (their 4th) album, which will be released in early 2015.
