Aras was formed by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Ehsan K. in 2001.
Aras, meaning "tears", is also is the name of a holy river in northwest Iran that Samad Behrangi, one of Iran's greatest prophets, drowned in. Bloody Aras, Ehsan's debut demo under the Aras moniker, was completed in February 2002. Since then Aras has gone on to release a handful of full-length CDs and EPs while even managing to release a few singles.
