Sorgeldom came to life when Jodöden decided to create an acoustic project in late 2006 with a somewhat depressive direction. A demo was recorded the same year, though it would not be for another two years until Sorgeldom developed into a metal act. Two new members, Dr: Sundén (vocals) and J. Marklund (drums) joined in the summer of 2008, with Marklund assuming the role of keyboards and backing vocals for their debut album. Sorgeldom play a diverse mix of depressive black metal, taking influence from post-rock and a shoegazing feel mixed with blackened thrash metal. The original acoustic concept of Jodöden has been kept intact, forming a unique sound perhaps only comparable to the likes of Shining. Frostscald Records eventually signed the band and "Innerlig Förmörkelse" was released in August 2009.
