Crow Black Sky - Biography

Biography

Crow Black Sky formed in Cape Town, South Africa, in early 2009. The band performs a style that draws influence from throughout the extreme metal spectrum, occasionally utilizing progressive, classical and acoustic elements, while keeping a balance between skilled musicianship, texture, atmosphere and a heavy foundation laid down by three seven-string guitarists.

The act first assembled with guitarists Gideon Lamprecht, Kean Malcolmson and bassist Stephen Spinas as the core members, with the lineup being stabilized with the introduction of Ryan Higgo on vocals, Brad Saunders on second lead guitar, and Lawrence Jaeger taking up the seat behind the drums.

The debut album, Pantheion, was recorded during 2010, and was produced and mastered by Lamprecht. It was released in December of that year to high acclaim, and has garnered the band a large degree of international attention. Writing of a second full-length has begun, as well as work on a music video for "Stars Of God".

The band cites varying classic acts ranging between Emperor, Primordial, Dissection, Opeth and more, as well as non-metal artists and composers as their musical influences.
