Biography
The foundation of Ogre was laid when Will Broadbent and Ross Markonish first met while playing in the experimental band Hello Monster. They would regularly jam to classic bands such as KISS, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple inbetween rehearsals and in 1999, when Hello Monster ended, they decided to form Ogre and recruited Ed Cunningham on bass and vocals, thus completing the power trio.
Split up in September 2009. Will and Ross formed Dementia Five, with whom they recorded an album, Revolt In The Fifth Dimension, which remained unreleased until April 2015.
Reunited for one show in 2012, playing their first gig since the split-up at Geno's Rock Club in Portland, Maine together with Iron Man and Revelation on September 1st. Besides their old songs they also performed a new track called "Nine Princes In Amber" (based on a series of novels by fantasy/science fiction writer Roger Zelazny of which Ed Cunningham is a huge fan).
After Will Broadbent had reached out to the rest of the band in early 2013, Ogre entered the studio again in April of the same year to record new songs for a planned EP. This was later changed to a full-length album. A reunion gig was announced for 26th July, 2013.
