Weird opinion: i think in overall end product, Ali Richardson joining Sylosis was a downgrade compared to Callard. Ali is a way better drummer, but, similar to those first Metallica records, Rob is as right in the mix as Lars was.

I think there’s a lot of music the originality score just doesn’t apply to in the first place. They know the audience they’re playing for.

@Liafev, I agree. But if somebody disagrees, just show me some similar records qualitywise (you'll make my day).

I'm not a big Gaera fan but saying they sound a 1000 other metal bands this year sounds horribly wrong to me. They have quite a distinguishable full sound.

Agree, but they sound like themselves which non other can. Compared to say Gaerea who sounds like 1000 other bands this year. I guess that many see originality in relation to the trends of metal, more than how unique a band is.

Ataraxie have their own sound, but it's the same sound every album. I like the band don't get me wrong but their sound can get tedious some times

At last coffee some solitude and music....but hey, 5 in originality for Ataraxie? Thats 8 for me - have their own sound and as far as I hear it the only album this year keeping funeral alive...different opinions.
