Beherit is the Syriac name for Satan.

Despite their relative popularity now, Beherit were generally hated by the black metal community back in the early nineties. In fact there was a Scandinavian band made in response to them called "Fuck Beherit" (who released 2 rehearsal tapes in 1992).

Turbo Music gave Beherit a sum of money which they were supposed to record "The Oath of Black Blood" with. However, the band spent all the money given to them on alcohol and drugs. As they had wasted all the money, Turbo Music was forced to release the "Demonomancy" demo along with the "Dawn of Satan's Millennium" 7 inch as an album.
