Swedish black/death metal band Devian think it's "time to break the silence... with eternal silence."
The band released the following lengthy statement: "We have decided to put Devian to rest. After the tour with Unleashed in 2009 we started to focus on the third Devian opus. After a few months of hard work on the album vocalist Legion (Witchery, ex-Marduk) announced that he'd leave the band. About that time we also parted ways with the label that released our two first albums, Century Media.
Some months later we started to negotiate with various labels but never did found anything that would meet even our budget for recording.
During this period of time we started to feel that we had lost the glow we once had for the band and the music.
We recorded a demo with a new direction to more ordinary metal with lots of clean vocals, you can still hear it on MySpace. This gave a new spark to the band, but it was only temporary.
At this time guitarist/vocalist Joinus (ex-Nominon) decided to leave the band. He was "tired" of the music Devian was playing. After all, 20 years playing death/thrash metal in various acts is a long time. And the step to the direction he (and some other members) was trying to reach was a step to far and would only disappoint all of you who listened to what Devian once started out as, a Death Metal act.
And after Joinus left drummer Emil (The Legion, ex-Marduk), so remaining guitarist Tomas and bassist Carl decided to put Devian to sleep, forever..."

But to give up music would be to give up life. Nowadays you can find the members in the following acts:
Joinus plays '60s and '70s rock'n'roll in the luciferian-themed Year Of The Goat (just released a mini-LP / mini-CD through VÁN Records) and garage-smelling, denim-action rock in The Horsehead Union (album released during autumn 2011 with artwork from Skrymer / Finntroll).
Tomas has teamed up with Roberth Karlsson (ex-Devian, ex-Edge Of Sanity, Facebreaker, Scar Symmetry) and released a few hardcore-oriented albums on the hardcore Swedish label Halvfabrikat Records. This project is called Aktiv Dödshjälp. Some time ago a well-known extreme metal band offered him the bass duties in their band. He accepted the offer and is right now sweating his guts out in a rehearsal room in Stockholm; preparing to get out on tour again asap!

"Assailant", the new video from Swedish metallers Devian, has been made available online.
The clip was shot by Rasmus Tirzitis (Tirzitis Entertainment). According to a Century Media press release, "the clip perfectly fits to the band's extremely dynamic, hellish aggressive sound and massive, thrashing riffs, it is likely to be deemed too brutal and offensive for most common TV outlets, so feel free to watch the uncensored version at this location".
"Assailant" comes off Devian's second album, entitled "God To The Illfated", which was released in Europe last December through Century Media Records.

Original news, posted on 31.10.2008
After their much-lauded debut album "Ninewinged Serpent" in 2007 and a comprehensive European tour with Polish death metal overlords Vader, Sweden's blackened death/thrash commando Devian, who feature former Marduk members Legion (vocals) and Emil Dragutinovic (drums) in their ranks, mercilessly return with a second attack: The furious new album "God To The Illfated" will be released in Europe on the following dates:
Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux: December 12, 2008
Denmark, Norway: December 15, 2008
Spain, Portugal: December 16, 2008
Sweden, Finland: December 17, 2008
France: January 05, 2009
Italy: January 16, 2009
UK, Greece, Rest Of Europe: January 19, 2009
Recorded once again at Art Decay Studio with Rickard Kottelin, Devian this time around decided to hook up with Hypocrisy/Pain mastermind Peter Tägtgren for further production duties and the intense mixdown of the album at the Abyss studio (Immortal, Marduk, Dimmu Borgir), while mastering was once again taken care of by Peter In De Betou of Tailor Maid Production (Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity).
Commented Legion: "'God To The Illfated' is the result of Devian fusing together as its own powerhouse. Having the luxury of making music together with one's best friends made the new songs step up to a whole different league throughout the writing sessions: we all bled everything into the album, everything that we knew was Devian and explored as much new ground as we could. The extensive touring we did last spring showed us what really works for us... jacked up and confident from slaughter on the road we let all the fire from the live shows translate onto the songs and the recording-sessions 'til we all felt that unbeatable feeling of grand accomplishment. The feeling that we had a really special beast of an album on our hands."
UPDATE (thanks to SlaytallicA)
A first brand-new Devian track, called "Assailant", is available for streaming on the band's official MySpace.
