Thin Lizzy - Considering New Studio Album
Thin Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham told Billboard.com that it may be time to bring his band back into the studio again.
Thin Lizzy hasn't released a new album since 1983's Thunder and Lightning and certainly have not thought about it since iconic frontman Phil Lynott's death in 1986. But according to the Billboard interview, guitarist Gorham - who was with the group from 1974-83 and has led various configurations of reconstituted Thin Lizzys since 1996 - thinks that the current line-up may just be good enough to try to add some music to the Lizzy legacy.
Said Gorham: "That's the No. 1 question we're getting from people ? are we gonna record some new material? The fans seem to trust this line-up, and I don't blame them. We've kind of jumped this emotional hurdle together. Ricky's writing some fucking killer lyrics, and with the kind of talent that's in Thin Lizzy now I think we can pull off a really cool set of tunes. At least it's something that we can think about now, where before it wasn't on the table."

Aborted - Enter The Studio In June
Belgian death metal veterans Aborted will begin recording their seventh full-length record to date from June onwards at the infamous Hansen Studios with producer Jacob Hansen (Invocator, Hatesphere, Volbeat).
The band will be tracking over 15 tracks of the most brutal and intense material they have written to date. The sonic onslaught - baptized as Global Flatline - will contain 12 tracks with additional bonus material featured on limited editions.
The artwork for Global Flatline will once again be handled by Justin Osbourne who previously worked with the band on its 2010 EP Coronary Reconstruction as well. Since 2011 marks the ten year anniversary of Aborted's Engineering The Dead record, the band decided to re-record two tracks of the album as part of the bonus material for Global Flatline. You can vote for your favorite Engineering the Dead songs on the band's Facebook Page.
Vocalist, founder and gurgloroth Sven de Caluwé comments: "We are thrilled to be finally recording Global Flatline and have the material out there. It is exciting in many ways, one being that this might be one of the most important records Aborted's career. We really took our time in composing the most heavy and uncompromising material the band has written to date. Some of the material is faster than ever, some of the material is slower than ever, some old school and some new school, inspired by all eras of Aborted, yet still sounding unique on its own.
Writing this record definitely took us back to the roots of why we started playing this kind of music in the first place, the passion and adrenaline you get from playing extreme metal.
Obviously it just isn't a carbon copy of Goremageddon or Engineering The Dead or anything: there are plenty of new elements as well since we never believe in writing the same record. Those who checked out Coronary Reconstruction have had a small taste of what's to come and we can guarantee you you won't be disappointed with Global Flatline! We are also very excited to be working again with Jacob Hansen, the man produced Goremageddon and The Haematobic EP and it was always a pleasure to work with him then, so this should be a blast."

Evile - Enter The Studio This Weekend
Official press release
Evile are set to enter the studio this weekend to begin recording their third album.
Evile will be playing a show in London this Friday, 18th March with Chthonic, before heading to Prestatyn, Wales on Saturday for a performance at Hammerfest. The band will then be heading into Parlour Studios on Sunday to begin recording the follow-up to 2009's Infected Nations, and will once again be working with producer Russ Russel (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir).
Evile guitarist Ol Drake commented: "This has been one hell of a 2011 already. We've been working non-stop on the material for Evile's third album since early last year, and the past few months saw the workload pile up drastically. We're on top of it though. Tomorrow we play London with our friends Chthonic from Taiwan, then we head over to Prestatyn for Hammerfest. Just like with Infected Nations, we're again heading to the studio shortly after playing Hammerfest, though this time it's the very day after. To the great Parlour Studios we will venture along with the even greater Russ Russell. He was at the helm/desk/brain for Infected Nations, and we see him as a member of the band, even more so on this third offering. We'll be in there for approximately a month, and we'll be focusing on roughly ten tracks to delight your ears.
If I was to say what the direction of this third album would be, I'd have to say a mix of the approach to Enter The Grave, the ideas on Infected Nations and an amalgamation of brand new ideas we can't wait to try out. We have to try out new things as artists; we don't ever ever want to stick to doing the same thing all the time. It will be aggressive yet mature, in my opinion, and before your ask - yes, fast."

Vader - Have Entered The Studio
Polish death metal veterans Vader have entered Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland to begin recording their new album, Welcome To The Morbid Reich.
As previously reported, the band will be laying down a total of 12 or 13 songs for the CD, which will be mixed and mastered in May for a tentative late 2011 release. Working song titles set to appear on the effort include "Lords of Thorns", "I Am Who Feast Upon Your Souls", "Only Hell Knows", "Return to the Morbid Reich" and "I Had A Dream".
Commented the group: "We started new recordings in Hertz Studios in Bialystok. We spent the whole afternoon being setting up drum kit, testing new skins and cymbals. There was also time to familiarize with new architecture of lately much rebuilded studio.
We plan to record nine-ten fresh songs and three bonus pieces: redux of one old Vader classic (which is gonna be added to the refreshed live set for summer) and two cover songs (those will be kinda surprise for many for sure). Spider also prepared few songs for the record and this will be his debut in Vader as a composer."
Vader will debut one or two tracks from Welcome To The Morbid Reich during the band's summer festival appearances.

Dragonland - Will Enter The Studio In May
After five years Dragonland's latest masterpiece, fifth album and follow up to 2006's Astronomy is nearing completion. This latest opus is set to be recorded at Hansen Studios starting May 31st.
Several different studios will be used to put this utterly ambitious album together, though Jacob Hansen is set to put his magic touch to the mix. Twelve songs will recorded, and the music itself is founded upon a a deep and emotional story, picking up where second album Holy War left off nine years ago.
Commented guitarist Olof Mörck: "After 5 years of doing concepts, writing lyrics and composing we are seeing the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel! After Astronomy we knew we needed to explore our music further not to risk becoming a band that releases music every year cast in the same mold, so the idea from the beginning was; what would it be like with a metal album based in fantasy that respects the literary genre, that actually tries to be mature and that enriches said fantasy world with inspiration from millenias of human mythology? To make a neoclassical album filled with overly bombastic clichés of steel clad warriors was out of the question - instead we explored the themes and sounds around various fantasy movies, new and old, and also countless computer RPG soundtracks to infuse the musical aspect with a genuine fantasy feel, and as previously stated heaps and stacks of tomes on every mythological tale from Gilgamesh to the Aeneid provided a genuine and credible backdrop to the story.
The album is genuinely a concept album in every aspect, and we will collaborate with some truly gifted artists who are experts in this genre to bring our world to life visually - more on that soon.Prepare yourself to be engulfed in a world of enchanting fantasy and songs of swirling magic later this year!"

Corrosion Of Conformity - Enter The Studio In March
US metallers Corrosion Of Conformity have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:
"The 3 of us (Mike, Reed and Woodroe) have been writing new music non-stop here lately. We have 12 songs or so ready to record when we head out to the studio in Los Angeles in the middle of March. I'd say the tunes cover a wide spectrum of the C.O.C sound from very Fast to Doom. Our long time producer John Custer (Blind, Deliverance, Wiseblood, America's Volume Dealer, Arms Of God) will be working with us again on the new record and Mike Dean has threatened to join in on some of the production work as well. Also a lot of touring in the very near future. In addition to the already announced European dates in April we have scheduled a handful of U.S. dates and another European tour in June and July that will be confirmed shortly. Looking forward to all."
