Yargos - Prog-rock project w/ Threshold vocalist

YARGOS - is the name of the latest project from Threshold front man Andrew "MAC" McDermott.

Mastermind, composer and musician Wieland "Wielo" Hofmeister (guit / keys), Producer Osssy Pfeiffer (piano / keys / drums) and Anca Graterol (voc) did not need much time to convince Mac that the powerful Prog-Rock-Project YARGOS was not something to be turned down lightly. Featuring Andreas "Andy" Kienitz (solo guitar - HYDROTOXIN, HUMAN FORTRESS) and Peter Pichl (bass - RUNNING WILD).

The album TO BE OR NOT TO BE is "in the bag" and is only waiting for a suitable label-partner. Release should be in autumn parallel to the single WHY?

Atheist - Reissues Dates

Relapse Records has set release dates for the reissues of the three full-length albums (1989's Piece of Time, 1992's Unquestionable Presence, and 1993's Elements) by seminal technical metal pioneers ATHEIST.

Elements and Unquestionable Presence will be released officially on August 30 (North America) and September 5 (Europe). Piece of Time will follow with a September 13 release (North America) and September 19 (Europe).

Guitarist/vocalist Kelly Shaefer comments on the impending CD reissues; "We could not be more proud of the job done on these reissues by the folks at Relapse. When this ATHEIST re-issue project started unfolding, I wanted them to be treated with the same care as if they were new releases.

Shaefer continues, "Now that they are done I can say 110% that this is the quintessential ATHEIST collection! It includes all the original classics plus tons of bonus tracks, incredible liner notes, and photos even the band has never seen until now. The art is expanded and more vibrant than ever and the sound has been remastered to pristine metal standards! The attention to detail in these reissues is outstanding and even if you had owned the records in their original pressings, you MUST have this in your collection as they are the definitive versions of the ATHEIST records."

Additionally, Unquestionable Presence will be featured in the October issue of Decibel Magazine as part of its ongoing Hall of Fame feature. The Hall of Fame feature highlights influential and pivotal releases in metal history, and Unquestionable Presence will join of ranks of previously profiled classics such as SLAYER's Reign In Blood, SEPULTURA's Roots, and AT THE GATES Slaughter of the Soul among others.

Melancholia Records - Support The Label

Burglary and fire of the Melancholia Records' (house of Orakle, Numenor...) recording studios.

During the night, some fellows infiltrated the studios of the label, where the last album of ORAKLE had recently been recorded. A fire broke out, which ravaged the place. Everything that had not been stolen has burnt or has been thrown away by the firemen. 3 years of hard work have vanished in some hours that night. The future of the label is unsure. Every support will be welcome.

If you appreciate our artists, our work, our integrity and if you like metal, you can help us:

- by sending us donations with Paypal: contact@melancholia-records.com

- by ordering CDs, MCDs, DVDs and T-shirts on Priceminister: www.priceminister.com/boutique/melancholia

- or just by buying our CDs in your usual local store or online store (Adipocère, Holy Records...)

Feel free to support the label. Even a support message is welcome...

Good luck to all the team of Melancholia Records.

As posted on Tiamat's official website:

7th of July 2005

Alive...

We're extremely happy to inform our Swedish fans that we have just been confirmed to perform at this years Metaltown festival in Gothenburg on the 30th of July!!! Other bands on that festival are Beseech, Nine, Apocalyptica, our bloodbrothers Dark Tranquillity, and the great Rammstein!

Recently we have received many emails asking about a rumour saying that Tiamat is about to split up. The answer to you bunch is: What planet are you from?

The DVD "Church of Tiamat" has been delayed and is now set for a release in the end of October. We're just finishing up packaging and deciding what to put in the bonus section. Siggi Bemm did a great job mixing the audio, both in stereo and 5.1!!!

And a final word, London we're with you!!! God bless you!

Peace,
T

Tuska - Bal-Sagoth Cancelled

TUSKA OPEN AIR METAL FESTIVAL ANNOUNCEMENT

- Bal-Sagoth Cancels
- Skyclad added to the roster

Tuska Open Air Metal Festival in Kaisaniemi, Helsinki, during 15.-17.7. has made a slight but very regrettable change in the program.

British cult band Bal-Sagoth have been forced to cancel their performance. For some time now, the band has stated on their web site that the recordings of their forthcoming album are still on their final
stages. Due to this we received the following messege from the band's frontman Byron:

"BAL-SAGOTH will regrettably not now be playing the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival in Helsinki, Finland as previously planned. This is due to the fact that the band are in the final stages of recording the long awaited and much delayed sixth and final album, and all available time and effort is being directed towards the completion of the opus. However, BAL-SAGOTH greatly look forward to playing in Helsinki and meeting their steadfast Finnish supporters later in the year once the sixth album has been completed."

Plans for a club show in Helsinki this autumn are currently under way.

Replacing Bal-Sagoth will be another British forerunner of Folk Metal, Skyclad. The band was formed in Newcastle in 1990 and today Skyclad is regarded as a classic in the Folk Metal scene. Skyclad was one of the first to combine traditional metal with folk influences in a way that has attracted a large number of followers. Skyclad's last studio album A Semblance Of Normality was released in 2004.

Right before their Tuska-show, Skyclad will perform two days in a row at the Dong-Festival in Germany with a regular performance on Friday and an acoustic one on Saturday. Skyclad will perform at Tuska on Sunday 17th of July at 16:45 on the Sue Stage.

There are still a few hundred tickets left for Friday, all other tickets are sold out. Remaining tickets for Friday cost 32 euro each and they are sold at Tiketti (www.tiketti.fi) and Lippupalvelu (www.lippupalvelu.fi).

Tickets for the evening clubs are sold only at Tiketti and cost 6-8euro.
Tickets for NightLife Rock are available only at the festival site and at the door of the club.
