The Ocean - New Singer Announced, Two New Albums On The Way
German metallers The Ocean have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:
"Ladies and Gentlemen,
After many weeks in the dark, The Ocean have finally found a new vocalist. We are happy to announce Mr. Loïc Rossetti as tour new vocalist. "We are looking forward to weeks and months of intense touring in the future and a new era in the story of our lives!", comments Robin Staps.
"Having Loïc in the band enables me to do what I've always been wanting to do with this band. His voice is strong and expressive and his variety of tone and the ease with which he switches between different vocal styles really amazing. There are no limits anymore. His screams are devastating, but his most valuable quality is his singing voice, which we will employ much more on the upcoming album."
Comments Loïc Rossetti: "Being part of The Ocean is a great honour for me. I can utilize the full range of my voice, and the band is pushing me to do so... it's a great challenge."
Over the course of the past 6 months, the band has received more than 150 applications from people from all over the world. "Many have recorded vocals for "The City In The Sea" and there was a lot of good stuff coming in. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to try out, we truly appreciate it!", comments Jonathan Nido.
The addition of Rossetti marks the final step in a recent development within the band: after 8 years of existence, The Ocean has recently been transforming from a collective into a band. This doesn't mean that there will not be changes of line-up ever again: "I have been playing music long enough to know that people are usually in this for a limited time", comments Staps... "But the people I am working with now are the people I have always been looking for, and naturally, everyone else is much more involved than ever before."
The collective is not dead. As a matter of fact, the upcoming album will feature the largest number of additional musicians to date, mainly classical players. The band has spent the better part of the year working feverishly on their upcoming 2 albums which are due for March and September 2010 releases. More news will follow soon."

Bonded By Blood - Working On New Material
US metallers Bonded By Blood have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:
"Well where to start. We had a great run this year with the tours in support for Feed The Beast we did a west coast tour a full USA tour and 2 European tours. We got great feedback and had lots of fun. A lot has happened since then. We have been working really hard to give you a great 2nd album. We don't want to disappoint and I'm pretty sure you wont be. We also lost a great friend and bassist but quickly found a great replacement in a guy named Jerry Garcia, some of you locals may know him as the Taking Over Bassist, which has brought great ideas to the Bonded By Blood table. Now on to the juicy stuff...
We are almost done writing material for the next album. We have also demoed some songs for our listening pleasure. It also helps me write lyrics. I have shown some of my really close friends and allies and they love it. It's a step up from the old stuff and a step in the right direction.
We have a couple of album names floating around but nothing is set in stone. We have narrowed down some studios in LA and around the area as well as producers. There is also a really cool artist that instantly captivated our eyes with his work I'm pretty sure you will love him as well once you see the art.
The sound and subject matter is a bit different than our last attempt but in a good way. Its heavier fast and a bit more technical and precise. Still has that Bonded By Blood taste. We are trying to get in the studio in December or maybe even January. So this new untitled album will be out early next year. I know you can't wait to get your palms on it. Shit I'm fucking excited to get my palms on it."

Withered - Founding Member Chris Freeman Leaves The Band
Withered have issued the following update:
"Well, many of you have noticed that Chris didn't perform at any Withered shows over the summer. And, I've been receiving numerous inquiries about this. So, I suppose it's time to make it official. Chris, after much soul searching and consideration, decided it was time to leave the front lines and pursue some personal goals that he had been putting off for years. Touring became too much of a burden for him at a time when the rest of Withered was striving to push the envelope and increase touring activity.
Personally, I must say that I'll miss him a lot. We've been playing music together 2 or 3 times a week for the last 14 years and mutually conceived Withered in 2003. He was key in nurturing the ideology behind our music and lyrics and his contributions will be missed. Despite all of that, Mike, Beau, and I completely respect his position and there are no negative feelings towards the situation.
As for his replacement, our friend, Dylan Kilgore, filled in for Chris on the last leg of the Blackenedfest tour last June. He did an amazing job and his work ethic in learning the songs was unparalleled. So, it was very natural for him to assume Chris' position full time. We're moving full steam ahead on the new album and the writing is going better than expected. At this point, we have 4 new tracks almost completed and anticipate the new album to be released sometime in mid 2010. We'll post more updates as they develop."

Slayer - Canadian Carnage Tour With Megadeth Postponed
It is with great regret that Slayer announces the postponement of its "Canadian Carnage" tour with Megadeth (and also featuring Machine Head and Suicide Silence) which was due to begin on November 8. In addition, the band announces the postponement of its appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," which had been set for this Wednesday, November 4. More information will be released shortly regarding the rescheduling of the Canadian dates, as well as the "Kimmel" appearance.
Slayer's Tom Araya is currently under the care of a specialist for a back injury, thought to be related to his on-stage activity, and the physician has ordered an immediate surgical procedure to take place in Texas tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.
"What is foremost in our minds right now is that Tom does whatever he needs to to get this taken care of," said Slayer's Kerry King. "While all four of us are disappointed that we won't be able to see through all of our commitments set for the next few weeks, the most important thing is Tom's health. We thank the fans in Canada and here in L.A., the Megadeth camp, and everyone associated with "Jimmy Kimmel Live" for their understanding. We look forward to seeing you all soon."
Slayer's Kerry King, Jeff Hanneman and Dave Lombardo are looking forward to meeting their fans at a previously announced in-store appearance this Wednesday, November 4 at 3:30PM at the Hot Topic store located at the Hollywood and Highland complex.
Slayer's World Painted Blood will be released tomorrow, November 3.

Slumber - Band Update
Swedish metallers Slumber have issued the following update:
"After a couple of turbulent months in the race to finish the new album we've encountered a few obstacles wich forced us to delay the recording. The drummer Ted had to leave the band becuase of private reasons, and we have two new drummers replacing him temporarily for the Resonance recording. Studio "Panic Room" in Skara is now booked four weeks starting 7th January.
We will announce a few changes in the line-up after the recording as some reorganizing is happening for 2010. Prospects of finding a label that suits our world for the coming three albums is looking very solid. This will also be announced shortly after the recording. We will report from the studio trenches once we're there. We're making a lifework effort here people. Bear with us a little longer, and your ears will be greatly rewarded. 2010 will be a Slumber year. We will make doom and gloom shine brighter than an elven arse!"

Grave Digger - Guitarist Leaves The Band, Live Session Player Found
Original news, posted on 09.10.2009
German metallers Grave Digger have issued the following update regarding the disbandment of guitarist Manni Schmidt from their ranks:
"We have to make an announcement that most of you probably never expected. A band like Grave Digger has to develop constantly. The problem is that this is only possible if the musicians have the same goal and the same attitude. And they have to feel good with what they are doing. If you have some permanent stress in the band, there is no more productive work possible and in the long run the music suffers from this situation. Unfortunately, there were so many disagreements recently building up between Manni and Chris that this would affect the productivity and creativity in a bad way. Because of all this, Manni decided to leave Grave Digger. This happened by mutual consent. We wish Manni all the best for the future and say thank you for many nice and eventful years.
But we also have some good news: There is no effect on the concerts that are already booked. The last word about the replacement guitar player is not spoken yet. We first want to wait for the results of the rehearsals. After this, we will introduce you to the replacement guitarist. We already spoke to a possible candidate and we will start the rehearsals in the next days."
UPDATE (thanks to 5933)
Grave Digger states: "This week, we had the first rehearsal with our replacement guitarist Axel Ritt (Domain). Everything went well and we have a positive feeling about the upcoming concerts, Axel was learning our live program in only 3 weeks. He is a good old friend of Stefan and Chris and for now he will be the replacement guitar player until the end of the year. We will make a final decision at the beginning of January. But now we are excited about the upcoming gigs."

Kiuas - To Enter Studio Next Month
Finnish Power metallers Kiuas have issued the following update:
"So, it's been a while since we've informed you of our comings and goings on, and there have been some questions and speculations as to what Kiuas is up to, or are we up to anything...
Well, fear not my comrades! To make a long story short: We'll be entering the studio no later than in the end of November, and start recording our fourth full-length studio album. There are about 10 new masterpieces almost completely written, which we are polishing and finetuning as I write these words. The album is set to be released in March 2010 in Finland, other areas TBA. Naturally this is and has been the reason for not doing gigs for a while, since the writing, arranging and practing of the songs demands our full focus. After the release, we will start touring, the dates will be announced once confirmed (but hold your horses until next year, kids!).
As to what can you expect: expect nothing and everything! After all, making a Kiuas record is like pouring dragon egg yolk, absinth and Tabasco into Frank Zappa's mouth while he's asleep and asking him to write a symphony about the dreams he had when he wakes up... although, ...well anyway... Or, going out with the members of Kiuas: you never know what's gonna happen."

Abigor - To Release New Material
Austrian black metallers Abigor have issued the following update:
"The recordings for the new album (the joint venture with Blacklodge, where both have worked on the same topic and the release will be a split or at least parallel) are finally completed, at this very moment the mix is layed down, and mastering is scheduled for 11th October. Expect a release on End All Life soon!
The album is truly a monument (a word often used but hardly ever justified) that makes the profound and inevitable link between Satan and all man painfully visible like few others, if any, have before. Through the "subject" of time the album is exactly at the centre of human existence, the metamorphosis that's possible when flesh becomes one with His principle - gloria victoria!"

As I Lay Dying - To Enter Studio Next Month
Vocalist Tim Lambesis has issued the following update on behalf of As I Lay Dying:
"Songwriting has been going well with about 6-7 songs done. We decided to officially start recording the new As I Lay Dying album on October 17. At that point we'll record as many songs as we can and then finish the album around the new year. I think this will be a good way to spread out our songwriting since most of our previous records have always been written within a few months."
