Tim Lambesis - To Stand Trial On Charge Of Hiring Hitman

As you probably remember, As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis was arrested in California on charges that he sought the help of a hitman to murder his estranged wife. He then pleaded not guilty and was released from custody after he posted bail. The latest news on this case confirms that Lambesis will stand trial on a charge of trying to hire someone to kill his wife, a judge in San Diego ruled yesterday.

The decision was made after a preliminary hearing for Timothy Lambesis that featured several hours of testimony by prosecution witnesses, including an undercover officer who said he posed as a hitman named "Red" and met with the singer. San Diego County sheriff's Officer Howard Bradley testified that Lambesis met him at a book store in May in Oceanside and told him he wanted his wife "gone."

Defense attorney Thomas Warwick did not present any arguments during the hearing. He previously said his client had been using steroids for body building and the drugs had a devastating effect on his mind. Lambesis has been free on bail since May and wearing a GPS monitor. The conditions will continue until he is arraigned. The singer also has been ordered to stay home and not contact Meggan Lambesis and their three children, who were adopted from Ethiopia.

Howard Bradley told the court he asked Lambesis directly if he wanted his wife killed, and the singer replied, "'Yes, I do.'"

Bradley also said that Lambesis told him at the end of their meeting, "'just to clarify, just so you know, I do want her dead.'"

Lambesis has pleaded not guilty to solicitation for murder. If convicted, he could face up to nine years in prison. San Diego Superior Court Judge Robert Kearney set his arraignment for October 22nd at the courthouse in Vista. A video report on the hearing can be seen here.

As much as I don't like their music, I feel really bad for the other band members.

Exactly, especially releasing after such a great record. They worked so hard for it and later got trapped in this humiliation Is just not fair for other band members.

I keep waiting to see if the others are going to express their own feelings about whats going on. This whole ambiguous "we're gona wait to see what happens" response is annoying...
