Opeth - New Album Pushed Back
Opeth's new album Pale Communion has been pushed back to August 26th after initially being scheduled for release on June 17th. The band's new single release and album pre-order was supposed to start on May 6th but that never happened, and fans started to complain to Roadrunner Records. You will have to wait a little longer to get your hands on the album and also to hear the new single "Cusp Of Eternity." As long as it's good, right?
Mikael Åkerfeldt explains what happened: "Many of you have heard the rumours already and we can now confirm that the release of Pale Communion has indeed been pushed back to late August. Several circumstances prevented the band from delivering essential tools to Roadrunner in time which are needed to set up the album release properly and release schedule conflicts made us mutually decide on August instead of June."
The album was produced by Mikael Åkerfeldt and mixed by longtime collaborator and Porcupine Tree frontman/guitarist Steven Wilson. The single "Cusp Of Eternity" will now be available for pre-order starting on June 3rd.
Pre-orders for Pale Communion made via the iTunes Store will receive an instant download of "Cusp Of Eternity" as well as second album track to be released on July 15th, with multiple configurations also available via both the Roadrunner Records Webstore and O Merch.

This is pretty pathetic though. Roadrunner is pathetic. They know Opeth will remain extremely popular whatever the hell they do, so they probably don't even care that fans are disappointed. Also, I never got the pre-order thing for singles at all. That exact same song is on the album and you can just as easily download/stream the song online. And even then, how relevant is ONE song? Seriously.

What I said was still correct since Watershed was slightly disappointing (as I expected a masterpiece like Ghost Reveries) and Heritage... well, I've said more than enough that I think it was the most disappointing album of theirs, yet still "good", so 7/10 material. And seeing your votes, it's apparent you're quite the fanboy since you have handed out 10's to 8 out of 10 Opeth albums. Hell, even my 4 10's are pretty extreme for one band. There's not a single band that I've given more than 4 10's actually. My Dying Bride and Summoning both have 3 albums that I've given a 10.
