Sumac - Aaron Turner's New Band Releasing Debut Album

Aaron Turner of Isis and Old Man Gloom fame has a new band. It is called Sumac and also includes drummer Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists). The group has been busy and completed their first record The Deal which will be released via Profound Lore (CD), and SIGE Records (LP) in February 2015. Do you think this might interest you?

Sumac is pursuing to be a fully functional band rather than a side-project, with plans to play live in the coming year and continue with further writing/recording thereafter. Bass on the album was done by Brian Cook (Russian Circles, Botch, etc), who will possibly join the band as an intermittent member for live performances when possible.

The album was recorded by Mell Dettmer at Litho and Aleph in Settle, with additional recording done at home. It was mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City, Salem. Artwork is underway, a collaborative process between Faith Coloccia and Aaron Turner. You can expect previews of that and audio clips to come in the next month or so.

Album tracks:

01. Spectral Gold (03:26)
02. Thorn In The Lion's Paw (09:04)
03. Hollow King (12:26)
04. Blight's End Angel (10:19)
05. The Deal (13:34)
06. Radiance Of Being (05:25)
