Hollywood-based progressive black metal band Ashen Horde have released their new EP, The Alchemist. The two-song EP is now available digitally, while the limited 7" pressing is available for preorder at their Bandcamp page. The single is the first to feature new vocalist Stevie Boiser (Dissonance In Design, Vale Of Pnath, Equipoise, Tethys), alongside founding member Trevor Portz. It also features drums by Jeremy Portz (Allegaeon, Vale Of Pnath, Martriden). The single is accompanied by a lyric video for the a-side, "Arisen." Check it out.

The single veers from the traditional progressive black/death metal stylings of previous Ashen Horde releases, instead presenting a more stripped down, progressive black and roll sound. Influenced by such luminaries as Khold, Satyricon and Darkthrone, The Alchemist shows a different side of Ashen Horde that focuses on grimness and groove (albeit with a few progressive touches).
