Adrenaline Mob - Bassist Killed In Fatal Crash
The bassist from New York metal band Adrenaline Mob was killed and other members and crew were injured when the group was involved in a major bus accident en route to a concert Friday in St. Petersburg. David Zablidowsky, who also played for more than a dozen years in the Tampa-based Trans-Siberian Orchestra, died Friday afternoon when, according to the Gainesville Sun, a tractor trailer struck the band's RV and on Interstate 75 near Micanopy.
Official press statement: The band was pulled over to the shoulder of the interstate, police said, when the truck veered off the road and struck them. Nine people were involved in the crash, according to the Sun, including several band members."
State Theatre general manager Kendra Marolf said she got a call mid-afternoon alerting her that the band had been involved in an accident with injuries, some critical; the show went on with only the planned local openers. A spokeswoman for Adrenaline Mob said the band would be issuing a statement next week.
Known for his glam-rock look and stage presence, Zablidowsky toured with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and SOTO, and also worked as a children's entertainer. He spent many years since 2000 with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, the arena-filling classical rock outfit led by Paul O'Neill, who died this spring in Tampa, FL. He and his brother Paulie formed the band ZO2, which starred in the IFC comedy Z-Rock.
"Dave was so very special to our family and our thoughts and prayers go out to Dave's family," Trans-Siberian Orchestra wrote on Facebook, "and all those affected by Friday's tragic accident."
