Some less fun drama has come from Ævangelist's camp as Reuben "Matron Thorn" Jordan has been accused of sexual assault by a fan of the band, with Valerie "Ascaris" Dorr posting the following message on the band's Facebook page: "Ævangelist supports Elsie [the fan]. Our future is unclear as a result, but Ævangelist will be one or the other of us or neither."

While Elsie's post has been deleted, some screenshots of the post have been posted by Ævangelist's Facebook page. These can be seen below:




Elsie has since specified that "This is solely about Reuben as he has manipulated and taken advantage of many women."

When Valerie posted in a reply that "Without getting too personal, I've been in similar situations.", someone posted the following reply that has since been deleted:



To that, Valerie replied "Ali [...] you raped me and tried to destroy my life. Fuck off" and " he raped me while we were dating, tried to strangle me when he got angry, emotionally abused me, stole my savings, filed an order of protection that got THROWN OUT because the judge deemed his testimony that I'd pulled a knife on him when he and one of his partners physically assaulted me in my room (I tried to use a broken knife as a deterrent and handed it to him when it didn't work repeating that I just didn't want to be hurt). I've kept silent about this over fear that he would find and hurt me. I hope desperately he doesn't know where I live since I literally ran away from our shared house. I have nightmares about him finding me a year later. My partners can attest to me freezing up during sex having flashbacks to him-once I spent half an hour screaming with a blanket in my mouth to dull the noise."

While the future of the band seems unclear, the one thing that is certain is that both of their members are no strangers to sexual assault on either end. Let's hope they get the help that they need.

Edit: Reuben has since posted the following statement in the comments: "To everyone - Now to put this to bed. These allegations are false, sorry to anyone that got swept up in believing any of this nonsense. Yes, I did apologize for an incident that has at this point been thoroughly taken out of context, and in no way, shape, or form is rape or an attempt of any nature. As for the motivations of those involved, your guess is as good as mine, but everyone seems to have a personal problem with me these days so I'm not surprised, this apparently extends to even the vocalist of Ævangelist who I considered to be one of my closest friends at one point, stands now with the enemy, condemning me in an effort to validate their own personal issues. Val a.k.a. Ascaris is hereby terminated from Ævangelist. This band will continue without them. This is the final word on this. No matter what you do, this band does not belong to you. I created every shred of art here, you were the vocalist. Your equality with me here is an illusion, and you have abused it for long enough. This is a project I started in 2010, and I asked you to join because I wanted you, not because I needed you. You have betrayed me, you have made a monster out of me and now you are trying to further false rape allegations against me, after you yourself claimed to be a victim and should know the difference between truth and lies. You should know better. Keep the page if you want, I legally own the name and music."

"I hope Elsie finds some peace somehow. We discussed our disagreement at length more than once, each time she assured me that it was "not a big deal", "spilled milk", and suggested that I "move on". Yet here and now, this long-ago exchange which amounts to little more than a drunken disagreement has been unearthed and put on display to attract the sympathies of anyone careless enough to jump to conclusions without taking a good hard look at how full of holes this story actually is."
