Oranssi Pazuzu - Sign To Nuclear Blast, New Album Almost Completed

Oranssi Pazuzu, who are currently touring over the North American lands with Insect Ark, have some news to share. The five-piece from Finland have confirmed the signing of a worldwide partnership with Nuclear Blast Records for the band's upcoming albums. Talking about the upcoming albums, Oranssi Pazuzu's will be finished during the next few weeks. Stay tuned.

Statement from the group: "Greetings from the US! We're currently on the road with our first North American tour going smoothly, in large part thanks to our superb crew, Nanotear and the amazing Insect Ark.

"Meanwhile, the new Oranssi Pazuzu album is currently being finalized and will be complete during the next few weeks. There will be a high dosage of psychedelic alchemy on this one. The new sonic realms feel simultaneously natural and fresh to us and we look forward to serving them to your hungry ears. We are also playing some of the new stuff on the ongoing North American shows.

"While we have your attention, we'd also like to take this opportunity to announce new partnerships. First, we have signed a management pact with FlyingFox AB. We are thankful for receiving the mega-level advisory skills of Erin Lynch, who has already proven herself a worthy companion.

"Secondly, we are psyched to announce that we have signed a recording deal with Nuclear Blast Records, who will be handling the worldwide release of the new album in 2020! Special thanks to Jens Prueter for understanding and respecting the band's identity.

"Thirdly, from now on, our show booking in Europe will be handled by Doomstar Bookings. If you want to book Oranssi Pazuzu, get in contact with Zoltan!

"On top of all this, we are massively excited to announce that we will be doing a very special show at Roadburn Festival 2020, as part of James Kent's (AKA Perturbator) curation. We are humbled to have been be asked once again to return to this great festival, in which we will play the new album in its entirety, live, for the first time prior to its release!

"And in case you missed the news yesterday, we're also confirmed for Inferno Festival in Oslo, Norway!

"In the meantime, catch us at one of the North American shows that we are touring right now, or pick up a copy of the new Live at Roadburn album available here. Thanks for your support!"

Good for them, not for us. Please do what Type O Negative did by singly not allowing one executive into the studio in order to slice your ideas into plain pork metal chops.

I don't think there's been a precedent set for this kind of band joining NB and being forced to change. Their black metal roster has gone relatively unscathed even though most of their releases tend to be on the more commercially safe side of things. I think they'd recognize what makes Oranssi Pazuzu successful and hope they continue that direction with minimal oversight.

RIP Oranssi Pazuzu

I literally lol'ed.

In all seriousness tho, it's sort of good to see how big these guys got.
Back in 2009 I remember reading about these guys in those blogs (which were a thing back then) where you could donwload stuff via megaupload and these kind of servers
There was just a hidden review about someone pegging them as amateurs with unpolished sound which albeit interesting he was sure they'd never get really big or anything. I got interested (mostly because of the astronaut cover) and listened by myself and secretly hoped somebody would recognize that band, because that debut was good.

Are they splitting up? I must need to get my eyes checked because I'm not reading that in the title.

I'm glad they're probably gonna get even more recognition and financial success now. They've earned it. I just hope it doesn't compromise their music.

I feel like Oranssi Pazuzu's sound isn't really that open to commercial compromise, so they'd have to make pretty radical changes to their sound if there was label pressure to do so, which would seem to defeat the point of signing them. It'll be interesting to see how they develop - I really liked that last album of theirs that I can't spell without looking up. Also hopefully this'll give them more chances to tour, would like to catch them again seeing how much I liked their Hellfest set
