most black metal bands strive to be the most blasphemous through many different means, be it preaching Satanism, Nazism, or any other normally awkward social topic. what band do you think has succeeded in making themselves the (hate to use this word but) stereotypical black metal band. basically when you think of offensive black metal, who/what band comes to mind?

Hmmm hard to choose, because there are a lot of unknow and one or 2 demo bands what I had seen in MA< and dont remeber name but from what I know those are Gorgororth, Negelfar(Swe), Krieg, Dark Funeral, Satanmic Warmster, Azagal, and those allw ho use satan in band name and album covers are whit devil ehh to many to mentioned

oh god Krieg. their music sounds like it was recorded on a laptop. i have a cd of theirs and its almost unlistenable because of its terrible recording. i know theyre going for a raw sound but come on. theres raw, then theres terrible.

Indeed a tough and ridiculous decision, how does one truely measure blasphemy? For a band to have satanic images on their cds is one thing,where as having ritualist sacrifies at ones show is a whole other thing in itself. I guess the band to do the most publized and dramatic acts of satanism would be considered the most blasphemous. In that case I would have to say Gorgoroth would be the best canidate. Otherwise it's simply too time consuming of a task to measure...

It is strange that Metal Storm doesn't even have any Gorgoroth lyrics, that is fairly blasphemous in itself. But I would imagine that the most blasphemous BM band wouldn't have a MySpace page, and we probably have never heard of them. There is nothing more unblack than having a PR guy...
There is probably some band out there that kidnapped someone and tortured them to death while recording the screams to use as vocals, to lighten the music a little... but we'll never know.

i think something which is the most wicked, raw, impure, evil, grimly unholy, satanic, obscenely offensive to the mainstream, with the most obnoxious corpsepaint which would scare every 10 year old girl on earth. not posers... the real trve evil shit

i'm not any BM expert, but when i think of 'evil' bands, my thought flies straight to Mayhem. i mean come on, the guys fucking took a piece of Dead's skull and carried it around on a necklace, Varg killed Euronymous just for him owing cash, they used to bury their shirts in dirt for a month and then wear them so they would look more dirty and evil, all the pig and lamb decapitations and shit... not to mention the church burnings...

fucking assholes if you ask me, but at least they're not posers.

it's still not clear. there are lot of bands who are evil by being very extreme, like having a very shocking imagery for instance. but their music is just blast beats and tremolo picking. ie Marduk, Dark Funeral etc.

on the other hand there are bands that don't have a very shocking imagery, or don't have an imagery at all, but their music is truly evil. deathspell omega for example or Reverorum ib Malacht.

I'm gonna have to go with Impaled Northern Moonforest. No band will ever be as blasphemous as them.

What about Bemdesar?

Although I must admit I'm not sure how to compare the levels of blasphemy(and what exactly is meant by that). Neither do I know much about black metal, haven't really been interested in it, especially the more generic bands.

I suppose it's more about extreme actions for me, because a ton of bands have blasphemous imagery but I think the old bands did it the best. Mayhem, Gorogoroth, Burzum and Carpathian Forest. These bands kind of set the bar, murder, church burning and over the top shows.

Well that would explain it. I knew that their lyrics were pulled from lyric sites but I thought it was soley for copyright reasons, and I had been wondering if the lyrics were at least in their album sleeves. Yet Gaahl has said that the music was not important, it was the message of songs/Gorgoroth that are suppose to matter.

I don't think nazism is the correct ideology for black metal, and for sure it is not blasphemous, it's just stupid! In my opinion religious black metal is more blasphemous, especially when they do it in a smart way, like Deathspell Omega or Funeral Mist etc.

Some Serbian bands, Posmrtna Liturgija (Death Mass) and Zaklan and their song Mrij Gospode ("Slayed" and song "Die, O, Lord"), then Bethor (some of the most catastrophic production I have ever heard), and remember Dimmu and "The heavenly father is streching his hand, pathetically begging for mercy, we spit and piss on his sacred flesh as we breathe the breath of the unholy (I like the pissing part)"...

For me it's a lot easier to take seriously a statement like this, than statements about being slaves to Satan as a being of flesh and blood and all that crap.
