Devildriver - Album Title Named

John Boecklin, the drummer of Devildriver has posted the following update about Devildriver's upcoming album:

"The record is completely tracked! This album certainly has a more serious and focused vibe that we may have missed in previous efforts. One song in particular is the craziest double bass patterns I've ever done, guitar work you would not expect from us, mixed in with a really fresh vocal approach Completely new from Dez Fafara. Its vibe is very new for us, but still totally brutal. I guess talking about it won't do much, I'm just trying to state that you won't be disappointed with us if you are Devildriver fan. Yet, there will be some surprises in "Pray For Villians" that are refreshing. In case someone didn't read it already, "Pray For Villians" is the album title. I'm very proud of every member for stepping it up!"

"Pray For Villians", is scheduled for a release in June through Roadrunner Records, The CD was recorded at Edge of the Earth studios in Los Angeles with producer Logan Mader.

Hmmm...sounds interesting. I hope hes not lying when hes talking about a new direction, could be exciting or really fucking terrible.

A fresh vocal approach from Dez? I'm not sure what they mean by that but hope it's nothing short than what he's been doing for the last three albums. But looking forward to it though, been waiting for another DevilDriver release

I have teh fear. I don't like it when bands that are good try new stuff, mostly comes out pretty fscked.

It can...but I can appreciate an honest attempt at not becoming stagnant.

I honestly doubt we'll see anything too drastic anyways.

I REALLY hope it isn't the same confused and unfocused approach he used on "Wasted Years" from Maiden Heaven. I guess neither clean or harsh vocals really worked for it so they just went with both.

I'm excited for this album, and I can't wait to hear what the new stuff is like. I'm willing to bet it will lean more towards the more classic metal sound, as everyone and their brothers seem to be doing these days.

I know what you mean, the more I read this over the more worried I get....

Oh well, if they end up turning extremely shitty I really wouldn't care, "Last Kind Words" and "Fury..." is all I really need from this band anyways.
