14.07.2009 - 17:38 Written by Janne on 14.07.2009 at 15:33 I don't think I agree with you about being the biggest. After taking listen to the samples, I think they sound really generic, more generic than I thought possible from that group of guys. With so much talent, the samples sound like they have done very little in terms of creating their own sound.

Their samples were boring and uninspiring but on the other jani has always been a lead guitarist, not a songwriter

Well, I'm a big fan of Sonata Arctica and some things related to them, actually one of the few Power Metal bands I still like, but, personally, after listening the samples, they sounded like nothing out of this world, pretty generic I must say, so, for the album, I don't expect anything great, still, I'll listen to it because I'm curious. And other thing, if Jani quitted Sonata to make this band, he deserves more hate than I already had for him .

He didn't quit Sonata to make this band, he quit Sonata because he failed to do his Finnish civil duties and there was some trouble over that..

Yes, I know, but still I think there's some other problems besides that, dunno, maybe some personal issues with Kakko?.

16.07.2009 - 11:31 Written by Zuzuz0r on 16.07.2009 at 03:51 Jani never quit voluntarily, the other Sonata guys kicked him off the band! It's true that they had some personal issues too, but sometimes people just don't get along anymore. Jani respected his own values and didn't go to army nor to civil service. He has the right to do so, but in Finland it just means you get to spend 6 months in jail. Amnesty has begged Finland to change that law, because it's clearly outdated, but our government does nothing. So, all in all, I think it was immature from Sonata to fire Jani just because of his time in jail, but I also believe there were other reasons. And back to topic...I haven't heard the samples yet. I don't expect much though, but I know Jani is a talented guitarist and he did make some songs for Sonata too...

17.07.2009 - 00:45 Written by Ernotar on 16.07.2009 at 11:31 This I did not know, but I guess it explains how Jani kept updating stuff even after he left the band. Now I'm wondering why indeed they didn't hire Jani back, he was *the* Sonata guitarist... but I guess I'll reserve total judgment until I hear what Elias brings on the new album. Even then, if I don't like what I hear from Elias, Tony is the driving force of creativity behind the band, so I probably won't be able to blame Elias entirely. The guitarists have completely different musical influences, though, after checking their Wikipedia pages out... this new album's going to be really, really interesting.

Some personal issues between Jani and the other Sonata Arctica guys are described in the song "It Won't Fade" on Unia. Tony has personally admitted that the lyrics are about the messy situation with Jani. He also said that it can be understood as a story about werewolves (like almost any Sonata song, according to his previous explanations )

I think this band will quite big, but not as big as for example sonata. i like this album after the first listening, maybe 10/8 or 9. really good album, from great members. if they can continue this level, many people will like them everywhere in the world.

I listened to "Gather the Faithful" and well, at first listen I found it really boring, or generic, maybe I'll give it a try again, but well, maybe it's just me.

The album is fine. It is just a good power metal album. I liked it but I hope TK will focus mostly on Stratovarius and won't let this get in thir way. But another album in afew years would be nice. Jani also has Dream Asylum and such so they are all bound somewhere else.

Bit torrented an early copy of the cd. It's pretty good I think! There's some filler, but their speedy songs are amazing. Worth a purchase for "My Queen of Winter" and "Dawn of Solace" alone!!

Way better than the new Sweeney-Todd wannabe theatre bullshit that is Sonata Arctica. Man that band went backwards...total balls-up. Cain's Offering in my opinion is a very good band, new album doesnt try any new stupid fancy tricks or try to reinvent the wheel the way SA did (and failed big time) they just made a good solid album. "Morpheus in a Masquerade" is a perfect example of how you can create a good power metal song with little progressive touches without going overboard and comeplete lose the plot the way SA did with "The Days of Grays". So yeah, not a terrific album but good and solid powermetal with well thought-out songs and enough variety and little bits and pieces keeping you interested. 7.5/10 from me for Cain's Offering

I dont like the vocalist voice, and I found it pretty boring too, but its jani, so I´ll give it another listen. Anyone know what happened with Dream Asylum, or Neverday ? either seemed more promising than this one, or at least I like them alot more

02.09.2011 - 12:28 Written by Nighthowls on 05.11.2009 at 11:35 Dream Asylum disbanded. For people saying SA fired Jani... he practically forced them to fire him. He wasn't interested in the band anymore but apparently didn't have the balls or didn't want to tell them, so he wasn't returning any of their calls and letters, during tour (on which they had to replace him before deciding they would fire him). And the cherry on top was the jail thing. I adore Jani, but a part of my respect for him got lost when the details of that story surfaced in the last couple of years. Btw, not only is It won't fade a song about his breakup with Sonata... Cain's Offering has one from Jani's side too - Into the blue

On youtube surfaced a track, apparently an unreleased one from their first album, where Jani takes the lead vocal role. This is what the dude posted in the info section: "I want to thank Cain's Offering and especially the drummer Hurtsi, for allowing this song to see the late daylight; you all have my gratitude! " Sounds pretty genuine. What do you guys think?

But this works out really well for my view of the band because when I listened to that album I was like "this is nothing but a bunch of fucking breakup songs!" which I don't normally care for but I can totally relate to that breakup. I was sad.

Don't know if you guys have seen this already, but Jani posted in his blog (http://janihatesyouall.blogspot.com.es/2013/07/theres-new-folder-on-my-desktop.html) that he is working on the second Cain's Offering album. Oh god (or whatever the deity that has these things on their responsibility), please make this happen...
