As of late I seem to be having alot of trouble with feedback coming through my amp when I play with distortion through my MetalZone Mt-2. I don't know why I'm getting so much feedback. The type of amp I play through is an Ibanez SoundWave 35 Bass Amp. I want to have everything set up properly anything suggestions and the kind of music I want it set for is Death Metal.

Well I used to play bass then I just bought a guitar and I can't afford another amp... and I figure Kyuss' guitar players played through bass amps and it sounded great I love their really bassy sound.

How much of a budget are you on? Vader cabs are the same quality as Mesa, if not a little better and they are only $680 new. www.vadercabinets.com Then you can look on ebay for a used head that is not too expensive. 5150 series 2 are usually not too bad on there. You can get them for like $600 - $800. Which is not too much. Then you'd have a pretty professional sound for not too much money.

Yeah, I fixed my whole set up and now it sounds pretty sweet. So thanks to everyone for their help. I guess this thread can now be open for people discuss what amps they have and there settings and things like that.

For guitar I run a Guitar Research T64 tube driven half-stack. It was 270 American, so I couldn't turn it down...stock distortion is terrible, so I got a nice FX processor [Zoom G2.1u] and they work great. Can't be happier.

My Serbian brother how much money you are willing to give up for this desire?!? Other question is what you expect from your amp - home play, local gigs, something more serious..

I got an Behringer GX112 Blue Devil when it come out quite some years ago it is 60W with 2 channels clean (heaven) and distorted (hell) footswitch is included to toggle between channels or effects on/off. It is not tube but it have VirtueTube technology - emulation can't replace real tube but this one sound quite fine - and onboard processor which packs 99 preset effects that are great for local gigs and for playing with a group of friends. It was around 250-300 Eur which was great price for quality.. Now I use it to play at home only but I always borrow it to friends when they decide to make some local performance..

I need to buy an amplifier too and I would like to hear some recommendations, as I'm a bit inexperienced in this department. I'd like it to be 60 watts and in the price range of 400 Eur. Could someone give advice as to what things to take into consideration when buying an amp etc? I looked for the amp you have, Max, It seemed quite good but maybe I can get some more advice. Thanks in advance

If you're willing to stretch your budget a little bit, you could get the smaller Peavey Valve King combo (all tube, 50w, 12' speaker ~460??). Peaveys are pretty good price/quality-wise. Go check them out if you have an opportunity.

if you want quality tone, stay away from solid states... they are great quality amps, but the tone suffers in comparison to tubes, and they usually cant compete in volume... if you are on a tight budget, and still want good tube tone, and a shitload of volume, check out some tube combo amps... you may not believe me, but you can gig with a tube combo amp, even without being mic'd! the good thing about a combo amp, and the fact that its smaller and underpowered compared to its halfstack bretheren is that you can crank it up more... why is that good? tubes perform better at higher volumes... typically 3+ on the volume notches... best sound is achieved 5+.... and believe me, try cranking a halfstack up to 5 in your house.... oh yeah, without earplugs if you dont have cops at your door within 20 mins, you will probably have damaged your hearing, and possibly given yourself a mild cuncussion... lol check out a TSL JCM2000 combo amp, a 6505 combo amp, a JSX combo, or hell... if you are really on a tight budget, maybe even a B-52 combo? make sure the B52 is tube though... they make solid states also... much crappier... but yeah, try that out, you can probably squeeze one out of the store under $900... which aint bad considering the bigger brothers will run you about $1800+ for the amp/cab.

Well, I chose Peavey Triple XXX cause of ability to tune down meaty sound, even if power of 120W is way too much. When you are shorter of budget you can buy Engl fireball, it's good choice and you save a lot money (in EU it costs about 600-700E new), even its 60W it will blow your ass up. Cheaper thing is transistor amp Peavey XXL, no bad one, it fits to metal, easy to get satysfying sound. One more thing - better not to buy cheap tube amps, you can be very dissapointed.

the 6505 does a pretty good job of getting meaty tones, not quite as bassy as the XXX, but i like the scoop myself, so im more into the combo of highs and lows, with a little bit of that mid range whip... as i said, the cab is supposed to be a better combination for the 6505 than the cab that is paired with it.., so i guess they have a bit of everything between them.. all a matter of taste. mine bangs out 120w as well, but without the 2nd 4x12 cab, i suppose im not really using most of it... i cant wait to stack mine (O_O) will be hell on my neighbors... im thinking about stacking it with a XXX cab up top, and the 6505 straigh cab at the bottom... ive heard the 6505 cabs have more breakup than the XXX... might be a good combination.

15.12.2007 - 08:13 Written by BurbotsRevenge on 15.12.2007 at 05:54 ENGL fireball. Edit: thats a head though, a prolly out of your price range unless you already have a cab of somekind. More realistic might be a decent sized roland cube?

19.01.2008 - 13:17 Written by Sunioj on 14.01.2008 at 20:23 Price doesn't mean anything. For instance, Harley Benton stuff is just a copy of pretty good stuff (Marshal, for instance, or Ibanez). This stuff is cheap, but sounds pretty good, and the prizes always make me laugh.
