Apocalyptica - New Album This Summer

Finnish cello-rockers Apocalyptica are set to release a new album this summer. The word got out last week already, but it seems that nobody is paying attention/cares around here (so thanks Daggon). However, seeing this band has at least 250 fans on Metal Storm, this might be something you want to know. Anyway, here's the full news:

"Apocalyptica just announced a summer debut for their latest metal-inspired creation. The new album will follow up their chart-topping release Worlds Collide (released in 2007) featuring the #1 Billboard single "I Don't Care" produced by Howard Benson (Motörhead, Papa Roach, Sepultura). Three Days Grace front man Adam Gontier provided vocals for the track and sultry video, which became a top 20 fixture on the modern rock charts for nearly an entire year.

On this 7th studio album, fans can look forward to more of Benson's production as well as strong artistic direction from Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens Of The Stone Age, Coheed & Cambria), who is presently in Finland with the quartet perfecting the final details. Dave Lombardo of Slayer along with several other surprise guest musicians are also set to participate in the project.

Classically trained cellists Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Perttu Kivilaakso and drummer Mikko Sirén are currently putting finishing touches on the album and gearing up for their February invasion of Kaapelitehdas, Finland's world famous metal expo. By early March the band will return to Los Angeles and prepare to unveil the anticipated album on an international stage."

More news as we get it... (on time, we promise. - Ed.)

I don't care was a huge disapointment for me, as well as most of the last album. The soundtrack they did for M.A.G. since then gave me some hope of better times, but I'm still a bit doubtful.

Well let's hope it's better than teh previous album. Which was not bad.... just not as awesome as the previous. If only they culd get back the power they had in "Reflections"...

I love Apocalyptica, each album is great (if you forget about these mostly shitty songs with vocals - unfortunately they make them more and more...)

I think he meant "I Don't Care" was a huge disappointment, the single from their Worlds Collide album.

And I think he meant that because Adam Gontier is a terrible vocalist.

Oh thanks, that explains a lot haha, It's not the same:
-I don't care was a huge disappointment.
-"I Don't Care" was a huge disappointment.

Haha, sorry for the confusion ^^' Should've double checked =P
But yeah, along with "bittersweet" and "life burns", such signers made musically O.k. songs terrible, or, well, to be more politically correct, not as good as they should've been.

I assume 'summer' equals 'middle of the year'?

Cos summer for me, and many others, doesn't start until December...

How about putting down months instead of seasons, cos this is just misleading.

EDIT: OK now I see that 'December 2010' is down as the release date. So which is it, kids?

Yes, "Reflections" is in my opinion their best work to date, after that they took a softer road, It's good to see that Dave Lombardo will help them again with this album, but I hope they won't bring more "cool" singers to record the songs.

" Cult " is my favourite album.

But , I have been losing interest in Apocalyptica for a while now .
" Worlds Collide" didn't really go anywhere , all the tracks were similar to things they have done before .
I agree about the vocals too - if they are going to go down that road they need to get a good permanent vocalist imo .

But , we will see - maybe they will surprise us with something new and interesting this time.

Just seeing them bring up Worlds Collide in the statement makes it perfectly clear that the new one will be just as bad, if not more...I don't want to judge early though, I will give it a chance when it comes out...

MAybe Dave can bring back some of the old power.

As elitist and music snobby as this may sound, "I Don't Care" got really annoying for me when I couldn't turn the radio on without hearing it. But hey it was an alright album in general. Hopefully this new one will be better though.
