Anette Olzon - Demos Of Two Solo Songs Online

Anette Olzon, vocalist of Finnish symphonic metallers Nightwish, has posted two demo songs online. You can check out the solo material, called "Floating" and "Invincible", on her Myspace profile.

Here's what she had to say abou it: "Ok, so the surprise I teased you with is that I have created my own Myspace page for some songs from my demo I did in 2009. The songs are not mixed or produced, just recorded in the moment and therefore are very rough songs. But I still want you to hear them since I am proud of them and I think they show another part of me than you hear in Nightwish.

The first song is called "Floating" and I call it the "Cirkus"song. It gives me a happy feeling and the vibe in it is happy and joyful. The second song is a song I wrote for my son and it´s very special to me therefore...

Tonight or tomorrow I will add another surprise song in there, will let you know when!"

...what a crap!
I wonder what would have happened if she demoed these songs to apply for the singer position in Nightwish back in 2007...?

Come on! Just becase her solo career doesn't sound like Nightwish at all doesn't mean we should ignore it.

Good good. The songs remind me of Enya and Clannad. It'd be nice to have some of this style incorporated also in the new album of Nightwish.

Pretty... pretty! Really nice and sweet sound she has, I really like it. And it feels that she's at home singing this kind of music. Definitely something to check out.

Fair enough,
but... just because she is the singer of Nightwish doesn't mean we have to like her non-metal solo career.
...and then she's been compared to the f*ckin' boring Enya, is that really a compliment?

Sorry if I sound a little rude, but it gets me annoyed that there's always a bunch of folks celebrating every time Anette farts.

@mariano: Yes, it is. Enya's music is enchanting.

And, yeah - Anette sure as Hell sounds at home singing these songs, I totally agree with Dark Blood and cannot wait to hear more material of hers!

Hearing another style of her singing is always a pleasure, but I don't care for the music or song much. I still feel Anette sounded best in the AOR style she used in Alyson Avenue's "Free Like The Wind"

When I listen to Nightwish, it doesn't.

Nice songs, anyway!
