Cauldron plays straight-up classic metal; nothing more, nothing less. Yet, they have some magic that few other genre bands have. Call it "the It factor" or whatever you like, perhaps it's their great energy, but Burning Fortune has been one of my most played albums so far this year.

They're fun guys playing honest, unpretentious heavy metal. Vocalist and bassist Jason Decay has a unique tone to his singing, which is a great reminder that you're listening to Cauldron and no one else, past or present. His aptly named comrades, Ian Chains on guitar and Chris Rites on drums, are excellent and musically this band is tighter than their jeans.

Cauldron celebrates this genre and doesn't mess with it. They make it sound easy, like these dudes rolled out of bed one afternoon slightly hung over, grabbed their band tank tops and aforementioned tight, shredded jeans and made their way to the studio after nonchalantly stopping for coffee at the diner. They then proceeded to lay down some tracks, make metal magic, and be done in time to meet their leather jacket-clad ladies at the local rock club. All in a day's work for these boys. At least that's how I like to imagine Cauldron. Now go rock out to their latest album.
