Helloween - New Album Tracklist Revealed

Power metallers Helloween continue to slowly reveal more details about their upcoming album Straight Out Of Hell. The new album will feature 13 mostly fast-paced songs, according to the band. You can check out the tracklist below. The new output will be released on January 18th.

Guitarist Michael Weikath said: "Straight Out Of Hell is the consequent development of the two albums before. The new songs are a continuation of the 7 Sinners directives, only less doom-bound and noticeably more positive. These songs will kick even the laziest listener's ass."

"The best example of Helloween's ability to think outside the box of metal cliché is the first single from Straight Out Of Hell: 'Nabataea'. The legendary kingdom and its secret capital Petra - hidden behind cliff scenery and only discovered at the beginning of the 20th century - are the origin of many myths and legends. 'Nabataea' is the perfect shape of great music to come and will deliver an epic video clip, yet to be shot. Apart from the standard album, there will be a limited edition featuring premium packaging and two bonus tracks: 'Another Shot Of Life' and a Hammond version of 'Burning Sun' in memory of Deep Purple's recently deceased organ player Jon Lord."

Straight Out Of Hell tracklist:

01. Nabataea - 7:03
02. World Of War - 4:56
03. Live Now! - 3:10
04. Far From The Stars - 4:41

haha, "noticeably more positive", for Helloween, is indeed something a bit hard to achieve there's only a certain amount of cheese that can be squeezed into a CD.

Oh Yeah! Reading the length for the songs, "Nabataea" could be one of those big epic tracks they talked about. I also like how Sinners ended on its longest track while this one opens up with it. A little detail one can appreciate. When they say it's in the vein of Gambling and Sinners but noticeably more positive... Then there could be several songs in the style of "Final Fortune", "Heaven Tells No Lies", "World Of Fantasy" and "The Sage, The Fool, The Sinner".

The tracklist sounds like one from a Norther album. But hopefully this isn't as bad as anything of Norther's

I'm really looking forward to hearing "Nabataea"! It's clearly the epic piece of the album, and I hope it gets the album off to a great start! There's a couple of really short songs, which is very unlike Helloween (unless you count intros, and "Pink Bubbles Go Ape"!)... I'm hoping they'll be short snappy barnstormers that rip your face off before departing. Talking of which, "World Of War" sounds like it might be a very fast, speed metal type song... I hope it is!

"Burning Sun" is written by Weiki, which also happens to be the song that's been made into a special hammond organ arrangement as a tribute to the great Jon Lord. I can only hope that it's a classic Weiki tune that is a fitting tribute to the keyboard legend. Quite unsurprisingly, "Another Shot At Life" which is the bonus track, was written by Markus! lol Hopefully he has some songs on the actual album too, as his songs have been some of the best on the last few albums.

"Asshole" is a stupid song title, and "Years" just sounds very basic and lazy. Hopefully the songs themselves are better than their titles!

So, it seems like we're going to be treated to 4 new songs before the album's release! The three songs on the "Burning Sun" EP, and the single "Nabataea". Can't wait!

"Far In The Future" and "If A Mountain Could Talk" from 7 Sinners are similar lenght but they are not epic..but i shure hope so that some of those new songs are!:)

Agreed, hoping for that as well!
I kind of agree about "If A Mountain Could Talk". However, I think "Far In The Future" is both epic in scope (seven minutes and longer?) and epic in its arrangement (twists and turns, varied, climatic build-up). I don't know what the correct definition of epic is, so maybe I'm way off, as we seem to have a slightly different take on it. Isn't there a difference between terms like 'bombastic'/'majestic'/'pompous' (which I agree those songs are not enough to really be labeled as such) and terms like 'epic'/'ambitious'/'adventurous' (which I think "Far In The Future" is)? But again I really don't know!

EDIT: I apologize if this was off-topic.

Oh no need for apologize..We can discuss everything that the album is concerned!
I do not know what exactly is considered an epic song also..I compare it with Halloween,Keeper Of The 7 Keyes and King For A 1000 Years
IMO for now no one can match with them!We shall see what is the deal with new songs
